6 turns... but Bob killed my trireme (got really lucky attacking and won the first battle) AND my galley w/ both axes. Since he couldn't see the galley, that was also incredibly lucky.
I'd assume from your pictures that you moved the galley 2E yes? If so, he could see it, water provides an additional tile visibility (but not more than 3). So if you moved there, he could easily saw you coming and then it makes sense to kill that galley.
And if he did build another ship in his city, his attack and win against your trireme might have been lucky, but certainly understandable.
No , he couldn't see it with just his borders. Bob told me he moved his galley out to explore for kicks and spotted me that way.
 I'm trying to find a fighting spirit but the loss of the GLH and the Axes makes me pretty discouraged.
This game is over. I decided to try a mass rush of triremes but they're too slow and Bob took another crazy attack and won. (Killed 2 of my triremes in coast with 2 triremes and a galley). He says he's 8 turns from triremes no longer being relevant (i.e. caravels). I can't make it to caravels quite that quickly so he'll be ahead of me with Navigation caravels. The city razing failed, the trireme choke is failing, and he beat me to Colossus and GLH. Bummer. His picking IND really helped him out. Me picking Inca on this map was useless. I really thought it would be a few islands not tiny islands, which it is. It's frustrating because I don't feel like I've played poorly overall but I'm gonna end up 0-3.
