This is redundant but I can't help myself.

You can't have a "banter" thread if the game is supposed to be no diplomacy. Any communication between players is going to turn into diplomacy. We've seen this happen in how many different games now?
I made this point in the Pitboss #6 game, and everyone jumped all over me. I hope by now it's become clear that "banter" and "no diplo" are mutually exclusive options.

It can be done just fine. I generally agree it's a bad idea (especially in a big game), but you can absolutely have a banter thread without diplo. This game is an example of what happens if you aren't really careful with it though. These guys aren't even trying to make it "banter" - thiat's just a straight diplomacy thread.

It depends on what you consider to be diplomacy. I consider any form of communication that affects the game to be diplomacy. That said, there is a distinct difference between light communication that affects the game but is not actively manipulated, and statements that are made with clear intent or decent possibility of manipulation. I definitely consider Nic's latest post to still be far over the line of "banter."

Hum. Well Sian's plant is definitely aggressive, but it appears both AT and Sareln have missed the defogged ice tile to the north. It has iron specifically for this kind of situation.

Nice to see Sareln finally getting to kick some butt (as the aggressor!) for once
I think he's planning to play this too cautiously though, what reason is there to avoid sending a few axes & holkans into Sian's forests ASAP? At worst, SAT can just park there and keep vigilance, if they can't capture anything.

SAT bulbing Alphabet in order to produce beakers seems an odd choice over settling the GS or building an academy. Beakers come at the cost of production, a settled GS or an academy produces extra resources at no cost. And Alphabet is of little use on its own, doesn't let them bypass Mathematics or grab any other useful techs in the foreseeable future. I do understand if they have frustrations with having too many hammers and little to use them for.

So uh...do we tell AT that it's blatantly obvious who has Construction from the tech trading screen?

Man, I want Sareln to finally win a game, and he is here... for the moment... but he and AT are so damned passive that they're about to let a backwards nation screw them up because they don't have enough troops in the right places, and I expect Nic will pick away at them through opportunistic attacks as he prefers.

Why the heck does AT keep trying to defend with Chariots? All they do is die pitifully
