[SPOILERS] Pindicator emerges from the wilderness to play pb74

138

Amica continues to pull everything into one stack outside his capital. So Powell was left with just one spear:

We lost a knight at 70% frown
But we kept the city because Amica doesn't have any units in range to threaten. In addition, he's played his turns very quickly now. The city comes with a granary and lighthouse intact so losing the sugar to Tarkeel's culture isn't that big of a deal.

Then a settler that had been moving up from the core finally arrived, and we settled our 17th city: Cirque (of the) Towers.

EDIT: I forgot to explain this name. This is going to be this summer's backpacking trip: to Wyoming's famous Windy Range and the Cirque of the Towers backpacking loop. I've never backpacked in Wyoming before and it's Grizzly territory but I'm looking forward to this.

Eventually settlers will come in to settle on the plains hill and east of the corn.

If I had 20-30 knights I would consider moving to hit his stack directly and try to flank away all of his catapults. But we only have 8 total. I am going to whip rather heavily to get a lot more out, but that will still take time (and Hitru disagrees).

Though we might not get that far if Tarkeel doesn't hold up to Plemo's Berserkers. Comm sent back this:

We're never going to build infrastructure this game, are we?

Well, we did build a much needed one this turn. We were finally able to get out of the bad decision that was Mercantilism and into Org Rel:

This led to a few whips. Saddle Mountain whipped its granary since it was going to starve anyway, and a knight was whipped in a filler city. But the biggest whip was at the capital:

That will be another 20+gpt for whipping off 2 plains hills and a plains cottage.

Demos, since we haven't shown that in some time:

After this GA I'm going to whip up a lot of knights and finish off Amica.

With all the people we have jumping at opportunities not to play (i.e. waiting to the last minute every turn even when extensions happen), I sadly don't see this game getting much farther.

If Amica doesn't play tonight I'm going to wake up with about 6 hours on the clock, and in no way do I think the turn should be extended again after it's already taken 48 hours.

After the golden age we went on a pretty big whipping spree. It's time to remove Amica from the game.

These are our units moving north. A knight whip next turn from Palouse, a catapult out of Koko Head - and then we move everything in.

A couple thoughts regarding Plemo's reload request and the Q saying that the players should decide that I'm not ready to air publicly.
1.  Asking us to decide without complete information feels problematic.
2.  I will only vote for a reload if Superdeath and Tarkeel are both in favor since this affects them the most.
3.  People might vote for a reload just because they don't want to be a bad guy; perhaps a secret vote - either voting in their thread or by PM?
4. How many times as Plemo asked for an extension or reset now? Seems like he is always in the center of this.
5. It's not lost on me that I just requested and received a reload/ramk intervention in another game. These should always be a rare exception.

Edit: Also, I bet this is related to all the whips we saw plemo do. Let me guess: someone timed his horse archer whips to be converted into knights and then forgot to actually turn on the tech? That would seem like something big enough that it wouldn't be fixable by just giving him the tech.

I wanted to write more, but in the end I think it’s for the best, if I answer 3.).
We as lurker can collect votes.
I think I offered with my post in the public thread ?

Well, I would hope people would decide in the abstract without considering their personal interests vs. Plemo. Perhaps that's naive. I think the things to weigh up are 4 vs consequences on a player and how you would feel in the situation. Anyway, everyone seems broadly in agreement.

Why would plemo's feelings in not playing his turns perfectly outweigh Superdeath and Tarkeel's feelings on having to play against an opponent who gets constant do-overs?

I didn't say they'd outweigh them? My point is precisely that I think players, not lurkers, should make that call.

And, if I'm frank, part of that is that I'm pretty confident lurkers are influenced by what we've read of the game (including posters expressing frustrations) in a way that would tend to bias us. Given that, what right do we really have to make this decision for you all?
