It's just busywork, staying in range of the cows so we can improve those ASAP. I ended up part-roading the tile 1N of LL, we can either start the cow pasture next turn or finish the road, giving the warrior that's on the same tile extra movement options.

That sounds good. I like that better than NW as NW wastes a turn getting to the cows.

Mackoti killed our warrior flawlessly, and will have a promotion pending.

We settled Legolas, I did not revolt to buddhism since I wanted another WC in Cupid this turn. Thankfully, Legolas did not reveal any enemy units nor borders. We should keep one WC in WT though in case a chariot shows up in the west as well.

Robin Hood has one unhappy, but started a settler, which will be 2-whippable on t43. It can settle the city sharing RH's horses - or maybe we should settle a city on the copper after all? RH has improved tiles that are going unworked, and it wouldn't hurt getting copper online. Easy way to keep expanding without needing to relocate workers from the north.

you've never read the Odyssey? for shame, you need to do that.

Odysseus was the best bowsman in the world. He was away from his wife and son for 20 years, and when he finally returned Athena disguised him as an old man so he could test his wife's fidelity. once he was convinced of that, Athena devised a contest to prove he was odysseus. they held an archery contest, and Odysseus was able to string an old bow that belonged to him, that no one else was able to string. (I'm not positive but I think he did something amazing like shoot an arrow through 20 rings in a row). Then he proceeded to kill all the suitors that were courting his wife with the bow and arrow, and only his son helping him (I think, maybe hundreds of them).

also, if you have many more cities and run out of archers, there are plenty of famous 6-gun shooters in American frontier history. Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp would both be great if you want good guys, and there's a half dozen really good ones as well if you don't mind outlaws (Jesse James, Billy the Kid, etc.).

Hey, that Odysseus guy sounds pretty hard core. smile

In reciprocity, apparently Lucky Luke isn't very well known outside Norway, so for your education:

yeah, Homer's a great story teller, good stuff. If you read my Pb8 thread you'll see me having way too much fun naming my military units after characters in the Odyssey and the Iliad.

You've probably heard the story of the Sirens, that comes from the Odyssey. They sang so beautifully they were known for hypnotizing sailors until the crashed their ships into the rocks. Odysseus plugged the ears of all his crew with beeswax so they wouldn't be entranced - but he wanted to hear their beautiful songs himself. so he had his crew tie him to the bow with orders not to let him go no matter how much he begged smile.
