Quote: Gaspar: what do you suppose the 1g gift is supposed to signify?
we can take 1 city?
1t left? Noble: i don't really want to try to guess it Gaspar: 1 life to live
1 down Noble: lol
ok i guess they must be producing a new soap opera Gaspar: lol Noble: well they built another longbow in latte Gaspar: yeah I see that
Knight in Dominate It as well
not that its especially meaningful, just mentioning Noble: they removed or hid two of the knights on EI Gaspar: yeah Noble: their warrior turned around
anyway i have no clue what that 1 gold means but i say we take it
<snip> Noble: ok
anything in particular you want to do Gaspar: uh
lets get the troop movements out of the way? Noble: i mean
from a macro level
any change in plans or anything Gaspar: werl
I don't really know what we can do
I suppose we should make a plan
since we basically just finished the last one Noble: you mean the post-attack plan? Gaspar: well Noble: i don't think we can really make that plan until we see how the attack goes
<snip> Gaspar: I think probably
in terms of next little bit
we should be researching CS
(after saving gold obviously)
and building military
excellent chance
we get hit with a spite attack
<snip>
8:08 PM Noble: i don't think so
we are not cheating in any way Gaspar: Maybe we should start, game would be more competitive
8:17 PM Noble: ok
are we playing Gaspar: Do you have time?
8:18 PM I know its OMG RAID NIGHT
WHAT WILL DEATHWING DO THIS TIME???
(Hint: Die.) Noble: not sure if i'm raiding todaya ctually
anyway
let's move stuff Gaspar: k
Sword into Colony?
HA into Colony
other sword sit in colony
feel like I should end a few more sentences with colony
leper colony
right outside of albany theres a town called colonie Noble: lol
yeah Gaspar: Hotel 32? Noble: did you take the 1g btw Gaspar: yes Noble: yeah hotel 32 Gaspar: charlie cottages
HAs in DP sit
constitution becomes a theme park
HAs in UL sit
HA in CN, also sit
EI HA - do we want to look for N7 knigs Noble: becomes a national museum**
hmm Gaspar: Theme park seems more fun, though I guess we're not an especially fun empire Noble: well
i'm just saying old ships generally become museums
we were supposed to pick up the HAs next turn Gaspar: why do we have to be like everyone else colony Noble: but we could delay it for a turn
because the other galleon won't be here yet Gaspar: i havent been paying near as much attn to the mackoti attack math
so I
'll let you decide
BIG PRESSURE Noble: well i'm saying we'll make the atrtack either way
question is whether we want the HAs loaded sooner or not Gaspar: the question really is whether or its worth the trouble to hunt for knigs Noble: lol
all right let's just move the HA back into OC Gaspar: okee dokee Noble: i'm fairly sure the knights got moved onto the galley and shipped away Gaspar: that would be my guess as well
slippery bastards
argo continues to sit
or more accurately
the staten island ferry continues to sit Noble: must be a police investigation Gaspar: <insert Law and Order music here>
Uniform?
7 and put one turn into a cottage? Noble: sure if you don't object to us building YET ANOTHER DRY PLAINS COTTAGE ON TURN 106 Gaspar: Of course I object
I'm just channeling my inner Noble Noble: well if you have a better idea
on what to do with him Gaspar: I find that if I embrace it, the turns go smoother
If I had a better idea
I wouldn't have suggested the worthless dry plains cottage Noble: ok then
anyway he cancels Gaspar: NUUUU Noble: wait Gaspar: WHAT IF WE NEVER GET BACK TO FINISH IT? Noble: problem Gaspar: (I already executed the action and the cancel)
whats the problem?
besides the fact that only mardoc has responded to my joke in our thread Noble: well i guess it's fine
next turn we won't be able to whip the longbow
because both chops will come in which is a fuckton of hammers Gaspar: Yeah, his joke was fine but still Noble: so we'll need to swap back to NE and finish it with the chops Gaspar: oh Noble: and then whip the longbow on the dow turn Gaspar: well
we could delay the other chop as well
have them road for a turn or something
and do 1 more turn into the cottage Noble: well there's really no point
in ahving the longbow 1t sooner Gaspar: we can promote it? Noble: well i guess we can promote it and get 5% fortify
anyway it's mostly that if we were delaying the chop like that
we should have gone NE and roaded with uniform
i say we finish the chops next turn Gaspar: yeah i suppose so Noble: SO WE CAN WORK THE COTTAGES!!!11 Gaspar: \o/
I'm sure mackoti will really appreciate them turning into towns in 40t when he owns this city Noble: hey man Gaspar: victor/zulu 1n and mine Noble: we're going to run emancipation!!!1
uhm no
they don't go 1n
because then we lose all movement Gaspar: RIGHT AFTER WE RESEARCH DEMOCRACY IN 200 TURNS
oh right Noble: sierra cottages Gaspar: I keep forgetting we don't have construction in 920 AD
<snip>
8:52 PM Gaspar: i just popped out for a smoke
as I oft do when you're obviously playing wow
and i have the TV in the other room on
there was a commercial for kinect star wars
which looked no less asinine
then the fake commercial for kinect AC
who the fuck wants to stand in front of their tv and pretend they're swinging a lightsaber
you might as well hold up a billboard that says
"I will die a virgin"
/endrant Noble: i am not on wow right now Gaspar: lol Noble: well i'm not Gaspar: of course thats your response Noble: ...
i'm seriously not
so are we moving xray that way Gaspar: GODDAMMIT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO LAUGH AT MY JOKE FIRST BEFORE GETTING DEFENSIVE Noble: then next time you should say the joke first Gaspar: would it kill you to humor me Noble: because believe it or not i read from top to bottom Gaspar: no shit
left to right as well? Noble: the chinese traditionally write right to left Gaspar: yes but neither of us writing in chinese Noble: so are we moving xray thusly Gaspar: yes you humorless motherfucker Noble: it seriously wasn't that funny Gaspar: i didnt say it was that funny
doesnt change the fact that you're a stick in the mud :P
so xray to cows
scout 33
MOMENT OF TRUTH Noble: i moved it
fresh longbow and a warrior Gaspar: MAYBE THE LONGBOW IS MOVING
(I am trying really hard to have fun with this turn after yesterday, sorry) Noble: i think ideally
we try to keep the scout around
and rescout the city on the last turn Gaspar: Speaker 7897 or 999 Noble: so we don't move in with galleons and see 3 longbows in the city Gaspar: yeah I figure we go 11 with the scout next turn
then move into the city the turn after Noble: i think that's too obvious Gaspar: also im not sure why all of a sudden im using numbers when I normally use cardinal directions and fuck them up
<snip> Gaspar: ok speaker? Noble: 2NE
9:07 PM Gaspar: k Noble: boo
i was hoping they built a road north of this tile Gaspar: ?
lol Noble: ok NE again i guess
9:08 PM OMG ONE ARCHER!!!11
<snip> Noble: let me see how many EPs he had on us last turn
184 Gaspar: well
i dont think we should switch regardless Noble: i want to estimate Gaspar: no reason to get N7s dander up Noble: how long before he gets research vis
not that i think research vis is going to do a lot for him
216 Gaspar: OMG HE'LL SEE US RESEARCHING CONSTRUCTION IN 1200 AD
9:59 PM Noble: ok 32 EPs
actually more accurately
i wanted to see if we had enough EPs to ever get research vis on him Gaspar: well Noble: we need 75% of his EP/turn in order to asymptotically reach research vis Gaspar: we'll have more CH eventually
one more CH then
is 75%
10:00 PM Noble: uhm gaspar Gaspar: OR WE COULD RUN SPIES Noble: you seem to have spent all our EPs on n7 lst turn Gaspar: so I did
oops Noble: THAT MUST BE WHAT THAT 1G IS
ITS LIKE Gaspar: ; ; Noble: WE SEE YOU SPENDING ALL YOUR EP ON US
AND WE RAISE YOU ONE FINGER
OUR MIDDLE ONE Gaspar: lol
haha
i actually legitimately laughed out loud there, thats quite rare
who knew you had it in you, stick in the mud Noble: i think my jokes are pretty funny sometimes but they don't ring for a lot of people :P Gaspar: Most of your jokes are funny
just usually you're too busy being cranky and serious
10:03 PM mostly i blame this on upbringing
(waits to see if you get defensive, grabs popcorn) Noble: not ure
i'm not really sure how to characterize chinese humor
10:04 PM i mean there are comedy shows Gaspar: HAHAHA THAT COKE OVEN IN MY BACKYARD IS PRETTY FUNNY Noble: but the chinese don't often use sarcasm in regular conversation Gaspar: ?
lot of ironic humor in communism
its a college students dream Noble: i don't think there's much coke production in china Gaspar: coke ovens make steel Noble: oh
why are they called coke ovens Gaspar: one of maos great ideas
was accelerating industrialism by doing shit like making steel in peoples back yards Noble: yeah i heard about it from my hs history teacher
but i don't know the details
ok
so switch EPs to mackoti yes? Gaspar: yeah, already done
since my credibility here is 0 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16500814/PBEM29/t106c.jpg Noble: hurrah Gaspar: end turn? Noble: yeah Gaspar: WLTKD IN DC
Bismarck of Mali (Expansive, Industrious, Mining, The Wheel, Mint, Skirmisher)
Known Knowns:
So yeah, not exactly the world's most innovative pick. This is actually my second straight game as Mali, though we don't speak of PBEM47. As previously stated, Noble has played this exact combination before, on normal speed to boot. There's nothing novel - Expansive is the best early game trait, and helps you all game long in ways everyone understands by now. Industrious gives you a discount on the second most built building and nudges the wonder train along. We took Mali for Mints, which are just a sort of "ok" bonus, but it is material when you're talking something you would always build anyway. This is the sort of definition of a safe choice, but a valuable one nonetheless.
Not much to be said about our team at this point. I'm the big picture guy, Noble's the details guy. Not to say he isn't good at the big picture or that I can't manage the details, but those are our strengths. We work well together precisely because we help shore up each other's weaknesses. Of course, without me Noble is still a top 10-ish player on these forums. With Noble, I'm very middle of the pack. But together, we can beat anyone but Seven or Mackoti. Oh, Seven's playing here you say?
Known Unknowns:
Will I be ready to kill Noble before this game is over? How many mistakes will I make with conversion from Quick to Normal before Noble is ready to kill me? How many times will I conflate the cardinal directions? How many hours will we spend arguing over optimal scouting paths? Will you all find this funny or will you be concerned enough to alert the authorities? How many times will Noble find a way to make a not so subtle dig at Commodore? How many turns before I'm in full Cassandra mode, predicting our imminent doom?
Unknown Unknowns:
Guess this category really doesn't serve much purpose for most of these starts.

Exploitable Weakness: We yin too much instead of yang, and either lose forest for the trees or the trees for the forest. Biggest Fear: The randomness pendulum of a large pitboss screws us more than the other top competitors.[SPOILER]
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Yes.
Six, in the same chat, on T87. After this chat, it's knives out for the rest of the game.
So often and with such cocksure certainty that Noble will actually change his avatar to the incorrect directions that you have asserted just to be done with the conversation. This will happen by T8.
42 hours. Everything is 42. But, if you subtract time during the argument that was actually spent berating Noble for 1) pedantry, 2) playing WOW, 3) not being as good as Seven, the number is reduced to a still unbelievable 13 hours by the end of the game.
Yes.
Noble doesn't do subtlety, so this is an easy answer. Once. Constantly. He never stops, and thus never begins discussion on any other topic. Honestly, he should just save time and put it in his signature already.
This depends. You have already crowned Seven the winner, so in a sense it has already begun. One of Noble's strengths, though, is realizing that part of Cassandra's schtick is that no one believes her constant doom and gloom prophecies. So, to give this an answer, Cassandra will show up when we meet Seven (this depends on the map), Cassandra will do a Chicken Little "The Sky is Falling" routine when we get Seven's graphs, and will start pushing the morphine drip when Seven takes Flight with Liberalism on T98. On T99 Seven will finish the Oracle.

A WILD NOBLEHELIUM PUPPET APPEARS!
IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

The highlight here is that this avatar was not in fact created for this specific conversation.
