Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Welcome to Realms Beyond Civilization!

Hello!

I've reached this place by Sulla's site, and have been lurking for a while. Now, I've decided to register and intend to join a game at some point.
Also, I'll definitely be around the next time there is an adventure.

Hi everyone! I've been reading this site for years. I'm constantly astounded and grateful for the amount of effort that people put into these forums. The Civ tips are great, the entertainment value is through the roof.
At any rate, I can't stand the idea of not being able to follow the new MTDG. I'm sure I won't be able to contribute anything, as I have no MP experience, but please, please please let me lurk? I can't get into the invitation/planning thread anymore, so I'm not even sure if requests can still be made, but I hope so! Thanks!

Edit: Sorry, just saw Sunrise's post with instructions... smoke

Brought here by Sulla's site, been lurking for a while. Signed up to join (read: dedlurk) MTDG 3 yesterday. Just realized I should probably make a post here to thank everyone at RB for amazing stories and entertainment. Playing some old adventures now and loving them, bit disappointed that there aren't (many) new ones, particularly Gentle. Would anyone be interested in sponsering some (+ some deity ideas I have (wouldn't play them myselves just want to read some stories))?

Also (not sure this is the right thread, but hah well) can anyone explain the signifigance of the following (from RB1:Cuban Isolationists), "farenheight 532, the temperature at which cities burn" and the Soren 523 wristwatch? Please? (for those who haven't read it RB1 is the first Civ IV succesion game at RB, where Sulla and Sirian showed off the new game)

We haven't seen much demand for gentle adventures lately. Most players still hanging around Civ 4 these days (the game is seven years old) are comfortable at least on Monarch-plus difficulty. But we could run one. If you're interested and have a sponsorship idea, feel free to write it up and message me or Sullla.

And of course you can always go back and play any of the old adventures, gentle or otherwise. I'll certainly read along with any reports you care to share.

I'm still trying to gauge the interest level as a whole for Civ 4 single player games. We hear lamentations that we don't have more, but then the events that we do run attract just a small handful of players. Seems like folks want somebody else's reports to read but would rather engage in multiplayer themselves.

Fahrenheit 451 is a novel by Ray Bradbury where the main character is a fireman who starts fires to burn books. I don't know about the wristwatch (that's the future era splash screen I think?) but I would guess that Soren Johnson (lead designer of Civ4) has his birthday on May 23rd.

Additionally, according to the book, 451 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature at which paper burns.
I have to run.

Has there been an adventure where you start with a permanent alliance? Just thinking it might be fun to try on deity (I haven't beaten emperor but would still try it out)?

I have tried adv48 but had an issue when typing that which i thought was because of trying pre-3.19 games, which was part of my lamentation. Figured it out now and playing adv28 (and yes gentle is easy so ill try adv52 next and show everyone how not to play). Certainly will contact you with ideas, soon as I get some computer issues working. Now that ive joined ill start being one of those small group of people.
If there is any interest could it be posted here, if there is none ill still play the adventure i just wont post the save (not sure if i know how to anyway).
