By the way, I'm under the impression that The Hanging Gardens work in a strange way with the housing cap penalties. I didn't run any math, but I have a feeling that my cities are growing to easily into full housing size.

If you have peace for the rest of the game who would win?

Unless Bacchus can make something insane whit harvets and Jesuit Educaton. I have better late game due to England (RNDY and the special museum, which I hope gives culture, not only Tourism), my empire score is the best by a good margin, I'm about to Suzerain Zanzibar, I already have stockholm. My science almost doubles Bacchus' science and my culture doubles Rowain's. Finally, I have two juicy cities still to take, Jerusalem (I'll even get crusade bonus there) and La Venta, that will come with Choral Music boosted buildings. Overall, my situation is the best, I think.
Anything you want to see in a report?
It depends on what I see from Bacchus, but my general plan is to take a few Cavs and take Jerusalem and La Venta. Finished Holy Sites are wonderful for me. 2 Cavalries attacking the city with GG power is probably enough, if I can bring a ram together.
If your economy is so much better, can you play defensively and win the long game? Not that you shouldn't take cities you can easily take -- actually, what is your strategy for the rest of the game (or until Firaxis breaks the save)?

Not enough experience in Civ 6 war. At least I have no cities in America's home continent, so that advantage is out. India's WW will certainly be a problem in a long war, as I'm already starved for amenities (because of that continent/luxury thingy). I have no end game strategy, I'm just going with the turns, trying to choose the techs and civics that seem best and micr as best as possible. I don't even know how to win a science victory. That being said, my demographics are likely better than everyone else's. (January 30th, 2018, 12:49)Old Harry Wrote:(January 30th, 2018, 08:18)Ichabod Wrote: Anything you want to see in a report? Defense is basically parking some cavalry + ranged + Great General on the desert to my northeast, as that seems the only place Rowain and Bacchus can attack from, considering the terrain. Bacchus power shot up and I feared he was coming for me with boats, but I have a lone galley pillaging his coast, even managed to pillage a harbour, with no opposition in sight, so I don't think he's going on the navy side. So I think he fears my cavalry and is just toughening up his defenses. Anyway, a naval attack wouldn't hurt me so much, since I have very few coastal cities (true coastal, only 2 - I mean, 3, now with Yerevan, but none of them are that good) and most of them are in the south, were a naval traffic jam would be bound to happen with just a few boats. The map hasn't been kind to my Civ bonuses, as I started on the deep end of a long continent, away from the coast, with very few coast spots with rivers. I quite liked the plan of building some quadrirremes to upgrade into frigates, so I think I'll go there. The next GAdmiral will be mine for sure, which will help. Bacchus has some coastal cities lying around, so perhaps I can be the one doing some damage. Overview pictures are a true problem in Civ 6, as the map is either just a landscape or it's cluttered by a hundred different signs one on top of the others. I'll try seeing if I can make something work with strategic view.
Yeah, when I made a stitch for t100 of pbem5 it was a serious pain - I had to crop out the UI in every shot for the stitching program to put the pieces together correctly.
Oh, did you ever find anything worthwhile out west?

West is really boring.
I could perhaps settle a city in the wood area and chop districts, but there's no way those cities would reach size 4 for a second district... Not sure if it's worth the hassle. I completed the Mids on turn 144. I harvested the stone, which also gave a 5t Camp, which I'll also speed up by chops. I could probably overflow trick into something... I'll consider next turn.As you can see, naval attacks don't sound so good from Bacchus considering the landscape. He also has a really weak coastal presence, as my scouting revealed. I'll build some frigates and try to pillage, raze some things. The land attack would likely come from the desert area. I'm building some more knights and Cavs with the civic card, to prevent risks.
Overview shots. My gold has improved considerably with the addition of Triangular Trade (+4 gold, +1 faith per TR) and the Suzerainity of Zanzibar (+4 gold per CH and the amenities bonus). After the shots were taken, I used most of the gold to buy a granary in Like a Rolling Stone (should have done that a long time ago, I think) and another TR, to be used by All Along the Watchtower, likely my weakest city, but one I want to finish some Quadrirremes in.
The plan is to finish Quadrirremes, upgrade them to Frigates, and destroy Bacchus coast. Bacchus coastal presence is only 2 cities, my exploration showed. So, I don't think he can keep up with what I field. And losing two cities is a big hit, both to Morale and Economy. The other plan is to take Jerusalem. That seems to be a pretty easy ordeal, seeing as I'm fielding Cavs (62 strength), boosted by a GG, further boosted by Crusade (77 str vs. 35 str). But the next turn Bacchus got the Suzerainity and the city converted to Hinduism, his religion. That means Crusade bonus is gone and I had to speed up my attack. There are a lot of white units there, but some of the are from La Venta, not Jerusalem. I 1-shot killed a X-Bow and I'll focus on clearing units while the ram moves into place. I'll probably divert the knights up to help... Not even sure if it'll be needed. Yerevan was stronger and it still fell easily to my Cavs. One of them has a promotion avaiable and the other can pillage the farms around the city, if needed. I think it'll be easy. I think this last round of 2 knights + 1 cavalry, coupled with the Cavalry + Horsemen (avaiable for upgrade) I already have will give me safe defense for now. I'm waiting for the possible Eurekas before reaching Muskets and Field Cannons, which will help further. Bacchus has half my science, so there's no way he can get a military advantage over me, especially considering I have a GG. Now we wait and see how the Expansion Patch will impact this game. If I understand the changes correctly, I'll lose a lot of my TRs, since I don't have that much Markets/Lighthouses and I have some cities with both RNDY and CH. That's manageable, but here's hoping there won't be more fundamental changes. |
