Oh yeah, I wasn't thinking spite, just that it makes it harder for me to conquer him I would have done the same.

I'm not 100% impressed with the way I've played this invasion as I think I played it slightly too conservative. I think last turn maybe I should have sent all my knights in at his Rusten's cap, but I don't know for sure. Let's check the log:



Serdoa captured the mids, yay!

Uh Oh, Serdoa just got got. He lost 3 cities on NoGas's border:



These aren't cities that he took from SD. These are homegrown core cities. I am surprised that Serdoa didn't expect NoGas to backstab him. Not great for me actually. This hurts Serdoa and by association hurts me too. ANd it helps NoGas a lot.

This is particularly bad because Bob built a cat in his border city with me and he built a Trireme in our shared inland sea. Also his Holy city's culture is going to engulf the 2 cities on his border that I took from Rusten. Not great.

So what do I do? Press forward I guess.




I used 3 knights and killed Corrupted soul. Lost one hurting a LB and then won the next 2 battles, I deleted the 1 knight because it was too injured but I left one at 9/10 health and C2 promo. Onlt knights can hit it so he'll have odds but they won't be good. I decided to raze it when I took the city because I could see that Arc had 4 knights in it and he had brought up 6 units from his capital NE. So I razed it, sadly.

I then took Mjolnir he left 3 units in it and evaced a knight SE-SE. Lost a knight hurting the LB and then had odds on everything else with shock knights. I saw an axe running south so I killed it with my Sentry chariot. I saw the knight running to his cap then and took a 50-50 on his knight. Won, capped his worker and covered the knight.

Then I had to think about what I should do. there were two cities south and if I don't kill them they just keep producing knights and LBs. So I sent 7 knights south, killed 2 escaping archers not sure where they came from since they weren't in Mjolnir and they were a tile ahead of the axe. I think they were from the south and he was running them up to Mjolnir but when he saw the knight stack he ran them back south.

So I sent a lot of knights south and I holed up in my current cities. I need to take these two cities in the south and see what happens with Serdoa v Rusten in the East. Will Serdoa offer Rusten peace? Would Rusten even take it? Will Serdoa retreat to stem NoGas's attack? Honestly NoGas are in a great spot now. They have a water barrier at their backs and they've crippled the two civs next to them and eaten a lot of land. I've crippled 1 civ, but I'm now exposed to Bob.

Speaking of, you can see that Bob;s culture will surround Mjolnir. It reaches over the iron the PH and the forest east of Mjolnir. I offered Bob Open borders and 10gpt perturn. If he doesn't take it I will have to declare war.

Basically I think I need to take out the 2 south cities, consolidate, maybe get peace from Rusten, and protect myself from Bob. If I get peace from Rusten I think I might send everything at Bob's holy city.



Demos says I'm doing well, but I'm not sure I'm in the best position. I think NoGas's position might prove to be more conducive to winning. Man we'll see. This shit is crazy. I'm glad we have a PBEM with all the people declaring war all over the place.

Bob Declared war on Rusten (I assume there is an island city he wants?)
Bob also accepted OB and 10gpt from me (I can afford it for the little time before I DOW)
Bob got a Great Prophet and I'm sure he's going to build another shrine for me.
SD made peace with NoGas (Not great)
Serdoa lost another city to NoGas
Rusten has not retaken the mids yet.


So I will take Rusten's last Southern city here and then make designs on his capital. After his cap I will ask for peace and go for Bob or SD I guess.

Taking the Rusten's cap will be bloody, not looking forward to it.

I'm still building almost entirely units. Sucks I can't take the time to build courthouses and infra, but the iron is hot.

NoGas is only about 20 food yield behind me and they have closed in on pop as well. Their SD cities are coming online and starting to contribute.

I finished CS and I'm going banking next. I want to swap into Mercantilism and maybe bureau with a GA in 15 turns I think. Also banks and wall street in Cap if I can. Then I think straight on to Lib and try to Lib Nationalism. I bet NoGas are planning to pop a GA and go for lib>NAt>Taj as well and win the game. Either that or AStro and then fuck me up. Astro is a pretty solid bet. I can't go for it since I need colossus. Maybe I go get optics before banking just to keep and eye on whether they've got Astro or not.

So NoGas killed a scout and offered a cease fire, not a peace treaty. Sure. MAYBE I WANT TO ATTACK YOU TO BUDDIES!

Took another city from Rusten.

Rusten got a GG so he killed some of Serdoa's units or some of Bob's units. Either way he didn't fight me.

I decided to move in on his capital a turn early. I have cats afterall. I'm just hoping he's distracted or cares more about Serdoa.

I used my GArtist in Mjolnir... I get rid of 5 turns of anarchy, I get the pig and gold and I have 8 pop to whip. Or not whip as I may decide. Also this makes my life easier with Bob. I figured it was worth it. I've already planned around using it and if I don't make strides now NoGas will eclipse me.

So far I've been able to actually stay ahead in city count. and I plan to plant two more cities if I get peace with Rusten, or kill him entirely. I'm still building units.

Speaking of, Lucio built the HE and produces 11 exp knights ever other turn now. Not bad, gonna need them. Can I roll ALL the way over Rusten... and maybe into Serdoa? Get mids? Can I get mids before I pop a GA and get Police state? Hmmmmmm!

GNP with 0% sci right now and 30~ units in Rusten's territory. Somehow I took the lead on MFG. Crop is dangerous with NoGas's growth. Power, it's okay. Let's keep building. I am getting lower on happiness though. War Weariness and whip unhappy are starting to catch up a bit. I can only hope NoGas is facing something similar.

Was late again today. I had the turn for 10 hours but I couldn't get myself to open the save. I've been sitting on my couch watching Veronica Mars. I think you'd call it depression. But hey I did do a load of laundry. So I think I'm just sad and lonely instead. The turns aren't going badly. I'm winning the war and doing very well. I still have a sense of impending doom, but maybe I can just keep eating all of Rusten's cities and erase the MoM advantage.



I took Rusten's capital.

I lost 6 knights to do it but I killed 10. I won a couple 30% battles and lost a couple 70% battles. I figured I'd need at least 16 full health knights to take it without cats, and I was right about on the money. I moved the cats in with the knights when I staged to maybe make Rusten think I was going to try and use cats to break the city, but I was planning on straight bum rushing it, and hoping he had moved an army next to the city that with roads I could then cat and destroy. I was right but his army was 2 tiles away from the city so I couldn't reach it. I think the units were in Arc and he doesn't have engy so the units only moved 2 tiles and not 3 next to his cap. Not having engy saved his stack.

I capped his workers and left them. I have 21 units in his cap now, 7 of which are cats. If he attacks he loses his cats and he might kill some units but he'll lose everything when I counter attack. I don't think he's going to attack, but I hope he does. It will make my conquest easier.

Serdoa lost another city.
Bob built his shrine.
Rusten has not taken mids back. Pretttttty crucial since without mids he doesn't have police state. I mean so huge he lost that.

So should I ask for peace? I've got a few cities in unhappiness now from war weariness. Not great. But Rusten only has 5 cities left. 2 island cities and 3 mainland cities. I think I should at least try to take his islands before peace. And I want to resettle the city I razed. Resettling that city will mean +8 cities from the war.

Veronica Mars is actually a pretty decent(*) show, and while the movie was underwhelming I really liked the reboot-season. Have you seen American Vandal? It's got something of the same vibe and subject matter, in a very different packaging.

Some people like Veronica Mars even more than you Tarkeel. The podcast actually got me into the show, but I haven't found anywhere to watch season two onward except Amazon. Anyone got any other suggestions?

Veronica Mars is actually a pretty decent(*) show, and while the movie was underwhelming I really liked the reboot-season. Have you seen American Vandal? It's got something of the same vibe and subject matter, in a very different packaging.

I actually had never seen it before now. I'm in season 3, it is pretty great. I actually watched American Vandal a few years ago and though it was very good. The first season more than the second, but both were really fun.

Have to admit it feels pretty good. Would have felt good and safer in some ways to rip through Bob (along the coast no mainland border), but tricking Rusten into believing I was going after Bob and then laying a smack down feels pretty good too. I also think Bob is not so likely to catch up in tech or power. He did spend close to 1000gs(or more?) upgrading Holkans to Pikes.

Thanks OH. I'm doing my best to bring it home, I just hope I can do it. I'm not 100% I can overcome MoM and the IND advtage on Taj. This makes me think I've got to race to Lib, now. I will say I think I'm glad that NoGas has to deal with Serdoa and SD as both of them are probably some of the MOST stubborn people on RB.

I don't know how much you've used torrents, but since I'm in China a lot of stuff is unavailable to me through normal means. I got all of Veronica Mars through torrents.
