The base version got nerfed to 7 strength, but the Khmer version is still strength 8. Good grief. If El Grillo can get to Construction in anything like a reasonable time frame, he can straight up murder a dude.
Their marksmanship only works outside of cities. Come around to my PB52 thread and we can talk some more about elephants. I have great experience fighting them by now. lol
I have! But perhaps that speaks more to your tenacity than Ballistaphants balance.  bow

That most likely right.

I guess I wasn't clear. I hate thinking, and if you make me think about choosing between Stonehenge, Lighthouse, and Pyramids, my brain will shut down and I will build all of them.

So why does that say Work Boat and not Stonehenge?

Need the work boat to get my turn 31 Stonehenge. wink (This wouldn't even be the fastest RB Stonehenge. Donovan Zoi hit turn 31 in PB41, I believe.)

My opening is pretty set, so I've got some time to decide things. The stone across the way puts me off religious techs in favor of Sailing and Masonry. Let's think about the three ancient era wonders. These are Stonehenge, Great Lighthouse, and Pyramids. wink

Noble and Commodore both seem to want me to do Stonehenge before first city, and since lurkers always have players' best interests in heart, we'll have to test that opening. Grabbing Stonehenge would be useful if this map is as natural and tight as I suspect. Perhaps we can glean a little meta-information from the settings. The world builder save was originally a Small size map, despite Commodore's statement that it was a standard cylinder. What's more likely, that Comm built a Standard map and forgot that he edited the size down or that he misspoke when he called it Standard size?  Border pops are good on tight maps. Equally, delaying settlers on tight maps is bad. I'm glad I've got more turns of scouting before I need to figure out if and how I build the 'Henge.

The land I've seen so far is screaming for the Great Lighthouse. Easy access to coastal cities. Possible early overseas trade routes. Good synergy with Imp to make city spam more profitable. Lighthouse seems good. (For what it's worth, at least one player has a landlocked capital.)

Pyramids are good, yeah, yeah, I know. Honestly, on this map, I think I'd rather have the Lighthouse + more cities rather than 'mids. The trouble is, however, that Miguelito/Rusten win the game if they land Pyramids. Imp/Spi producing Cataphracts in Police State gets to do what they want. I'd normally feel silly for building a wonder for denial purposes, but the Pyramids are strong enough that that's not an issue.

I've written a lot, but I don't feel like I've made progress. Hopefully the scout can give me more info.

I'm not suggesting anything. I am just trolling with my questions. I can't suggest anything anyway since I've skimmed a few other threads.

It looks like you built it on turn 20 in this game.  yikes

Here's what I've scouted so far:

Sorry I haven't been posting more. The Werewolf game is crushing my soul. I'm certain I go Work Boat->Worker, so I don't need to make plans for another 15 turns. Hopefully by then I'm done with werewolf and can choose between 'Henge and settler. I've only tested the 'Henge first, sort of as a joke. Here's what it has going for it: If I go Work Boat->Worker to size 2, I'd only be working food tiles (corn and clam). This doesn't get any bonus from Imp, whereas I could grow to 4 while building 'Henge (with 2 chops) and then pretty much immediately 2-whip a settler, getting the full Imp bonus on the whip. Additionally, the capital pops 3rd ring borders (and gets the second corn) right about when a city could be founded between the dyes and the silk, so my worker could immediately start improving the second corn.

Reasons not to go 'Henge first: it looks like there are going to be several good city spots with food and forests to chop.

I haven't thought about this game in a while. I remember that at size 5 my capital can crank out 5 turn settlers (with two mines and a plains forest). I think it can pretty much crank out 6 turn settlers at size 4, not sure. I forget if I mentioned that at least one player is landlocked.

Ah. Good point. Still beats my expected turn 31 date.

Well, nuts.

Very tight map. Stonehenge=bad?

Vanrober+GKC is Cyrus of Mongolia. This is an aggressive pairing. Need to watch him.
