If you are using my opening test when you need the MP happiness in Oporto. I did wb first, but I think you could do warrior first then WB with RtR cha and be fine I think. I agree archer scouting for a bit is fine and it makes more sense for scout to go east as I agree with your assessment, but just fyi.

With barbs on I'm always a fan of keeping scout close. Don't need to circle back SOON (as extremely unlikely a city goes there), but sometime before real barbs start spawning for RtR classical starts. Seems likely those plains will be barb spawning central so find a good vision hill to sit on.

Yeah, I'm nonplussed on it myself.

How about dumplings?  Everyone loves dumplings!  Though this list is flawed; it does not have the Portuguese Rissois de Camarao.
Also, when I think of Portuguese food I think more of donuts than dumplings.  Hmmm... maybe there's a worldwide donut list?

Donuts and dumplings, now I'm hungry.

I think dumplings is rather niche and probably also leads to many Asian names that would be hard to remember. I'd recommend something more familiar like fruits instead.

With the new Path of Exile event starting tomorrow, I decided to go with a theme from there. I'll be pulling from the list of unique jewels, and either skipping or condensing names that are over 15 characters. In the same vein, our password is jewels.




Revolted into Slavery, and moved the archer SW. I need to go refresh my memory on what the plan details are, but all our workers are improving corn to start. Scout pulled 34g out of the hut.

We haven't touched on first tech. There are a lot of early possibilities. Alphabet for early Open Borders and religion, Math for chops & HG, Metal Casting for Lumbermills & Colossus & pushing on towards our seaward UU, or Monarchy to get that Wine hooked up are all thoughts. Leaning MC or Alphabet at this time.

EDIT: It's safe to pop that hut, right? Or wait for borders to pop it?

Oh, and 1510 land tiles for 7 players comes out to 215 per player. Big map.

Some hut results cannot happen if the hut is not popped by a unit. No idea how that is modified by the mod though. Not spending a turn moving to it obviously means we can scout a bit more.

215 per player is a lot by modern RB standards but actually only slightly above average by old RB standards, from what I remember.

If you are going to ask about techs I do appreciate "tech for x reason", as you did, as I'm not familiar with RtR. I like math for chops. Unsure if it will be in time, but there is a point in the micro where you have to work a plains forest for two turns. If math comes in before then you can work unimproved rice. If nothing else seems useful to help future new cities 1 pop whip grans. Seems likely next cities will have forests. I don't hate MC for early forges (maybe after math), but being financial I find it unlikely we build many lumbermills? Shall see what we find, but Colossus doesn't seem likely atm (maybe slow build with whip overflow). Monarchy for wine seems unlikely unless that is where copper is or it has two amazing food (unlikely). I don't know how fast people will push religions in classical start, but I think skipping the early race for obvious one is fine.

Agree with Noble just to save the movement. Assuming you are going to scout along coast first. Like that in case need to do work boat followed by work boat (although chopping out a work boat at new city with math chops also maybe).

Copper found to the southwest.




Probably send the archer south 1 to see over the sea and then send it in a loop around the capital. Have to remind myself that raging barbs are on and ... how many turns do we get then? Shoot, may need to build units sooner than our plans indicate.

Tech set for Math - I agree that the tech plan needs to have a goal behind it and right now I'm not too certain on my goal. Survive the barbarian hordes. Build cottages and cheap libraries. That's about as far as I am into it.
