Quick diplo update, Serdoa got back to me and offered me:
-NAP until turn 50
-He's shooting for an early religion, and offered me a missionary, if I spread his religion to the rest of my cities
-Trades of spare health/happys (doubles)
I think Serdoa is probably one of the strongest players in this game, and although I'm not particularly threatened by myst, hunting aztecs, I'd like to do a bit of early wonderbuilding so an early game NAP would be helpful. I also agreed to resource trades (no harm)
However, I plan on founding a religion later, and didnt really want to power up his shrine so I said no to the missionary. That may change if I don't get a religion though.

Played turn 7, only one turn until I have more than one unit to play with, also I spotted galley reachable land so I may make sailing more of a priority than I initially intended.

Huzzah a worker is born! She's named Annie Edison, and was immediately put to work farming the rice.
My theme, in case anyone was curious, is television shows I enjoy. In line with this, my cities will be named after a place from a television show, and all the units that city produces will be named after characters from the respective show (might have to name my heroic epic city 'Moe's Tavern', just so I have enough characters). My capital is named Greendale from the programme 'Community'.
Heres a screenshot with an exciting two units visible. My scouting revealed some rather dull looking land this turn.

Have any wonders in mind? Oh, btw, why are your screenshots stretched so much?

I'm thinking the Great Library, plus it's always helpful for the Epics. I probably overstated how precious it is, since it effectively weakens my IND trait if everyone has it. In fact stone would probably be better because the Pyramids would be really good for me. I'm still happy though; resource doublers are always incredibly satisfying to use.
I'm not sure why the screenshots are so stretched, I just press print screen in civ and that's what comes out. I may have a play with my resolution settings tommorow and try and squish ma pics somewhat.

I'm pretty sure you're just using a resolution that doesn't match with your monitor's aspect ratio.

Finally got to play a turn , found silver among a maze of peaks, as shown in the screenshot. Which might be destretched if I remebered the correct resolution of my monitor (cheers for the heads up btw NobleHelium)

To be honest not very much has happened so far, turn pace has been a little on the slow side. However the last time I did get a turn two important things happened, firstly I met TMIT and secondly copper was revealed at the capital.
