Yes, they are fighting and I am tempted to fight back Xist, just for the fun of it. It's really boring to keep rolling turns without the excitement of war. But his strenght is impressive. I just saw a pile with 40 Battleships. I the biggest pile I've got is around 15

If you attacked Xist, could you destroy any of his cities? It might be fun to destroy some cities of his in a surprise attack, even if he started winning against you after the surprise was over.

By the way, if you declare war on Xist, make sure to declare war AFTER he plays his turn. That way both you and Coldrain will play after him and be on the same side of the turnsplit. Never make a 3-way turnsplit if you can avoid it!

Okay, I read most of the thread and a few things.
1. Scout better - you had no idea what happened, till you traded maps ?
And if I read the latest screenshots right, you didn't used the recon mission with Airships jet fighters much ?
And open borders. International trade routes are a good incentive and the ability to scout the enemy forces are much better than the fact, the enemy can scout your land - and this helps to create a peaceful border.
It's a shame you didn't had access to the souther ocean to scout there, but at least with airships, you could have stationed a few in Miros or my cities.
2. Did you have a look at the game log ? Generally, a few of your question could be answered by the game log. - Or on other screens.
You noticed some things, but I feel you didn't follow up these things - or even draw the correct conclusion.
For example, you could see that there was no big battle with Miro (neither a power dip on my side nor a general for me, I think). Instead, I started 3 nukes.
3. You attacked the barb cities too late, I think. The city shouldn't be able to reach size 4 and build a wall. - and why raze it ?
4. I do think you build too much infrastructure in the settling phase.
I do think this was the time you fall behind in cities.

I am very grateful for your comments.
1. Definetly. It's a question that I have seen in theese games with you. We were neighbourgs and you were always scouting around.
The benefits of opening borders are not clear to me yet. I have to learn a lot about it.
2. Yes I usually take a look at it. But I missed the moment when Miro started to go down really fast.
3. I razed it to get a better location. And the 2nd one I was waiting for it to grow to 2 pop, for keeping it as it was.
4. Probably. I am learning to not built so many Libraries...

Good game Giraflorens! . You survived until the end.
It was an honor to be your dedlurker.
I agree with all Xist's criticism, especially #4. In the early game, most infrastructure buildings are usually not as good as more Settlers + Workers + garrison units.
I hope that you will play again someday and learn from this game.

Hahahaha, in this game I don't have any plan for victory. I start the match knowing that I am not to win. The other players are much better than me. I just want to try to keep alive and learn playing with humans, which is quite different than the IA... I hope that for a long time!!!
Keeping alive as long as possible is a good goal. I always try that when I have no hope of winning.
Maybe you can win the next Pitboss.
As someone who has also gone after the "stay alive" achievement I get it. Also, for a long time they were close enough it made sense to see if they would drag each other down. That being said.

Yes, definitely Xist is the winner. In the last 20 turns he has been conquering cities of Miro. And this is already very low in power and points (see the power graph below). I think there was a battle were Miro had a huge lost of units and this was the defeat of him.
I am sorry for not posting anymore in this thread but the game has a low interest for me. I keep playing to see what happen. But so far I wouldn't know how to fight a war, that's the reason I did not enter any war, even when now I have some temptations to do it. But I don't know how to.
Once the game is lost ATTACK. Concessions would keep you alive and when else can you get some experience in an almost stress free environment. Would you rather your first modern age war be in a game where it is almost certainly over / definitely over if you do nothing OR you could wait until its a game where you actually have a chance for your first try at complicated modern warfare.
How was the Dutch UB btw? Seemed pretty good?

Yes, you are right. When the game is lost that's the best opportunity to practice warfare (or another strategies). But, man, these games are really hard. During so many days so many things happen in real life that complicates to keep the pace. Indeed it is a marathon. Well, not always, PB81 finished really fast.
The Dutch UB was the Dike. And in these maps with so much water it is really helpful.
