Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILER] Fate/stay close (to home)

Game is online!

The capital of course has to be named after Altria Pendragon's Noble Phantasm:

It's so nice they had to show it thrice.

Onto the actual game! I was sad to find out the hill 3N is not a plains hill. But south already seems a great place for a booming second city.
What seems like a long river is great for a Protective start. Cities will be auto-connected through the river. We'll get 4 GPT from trade routes as soon as second city is settled.

I wanted to scout around our capital, but the land mass didn't agree with me  cry
I'll head back south, since that's the way I'll likely expand first. I hope there is a food resource west of the gold.

Sheep! Nice.

This is tricky to dotmap. I'll scout a bit more. How to use the in-game dotmap tool btw?

Food wise I think we have to grab all the seafood. Only got cows and dry wheat anywhere near cap.

Thanks guys. In return here's a dot map, although things might change when I know where copper and horses are.

Happy with this. Not too many concentrated grassland forests for our lumbermill experiment. Pink dot would have 3.
Green has potential too, but forests near the capital will probably be better used to accelerate the snowball by chopping them.

One thing I am considering is the second city (green). If I move it 1E I can auto-connect it to capital (and connect the two rivers). The clam would have to be grabbed by a city on the island.

Uh oh. I would really like to know whether this is a peninsula or leads to another civ. Please don't eat me.

The scout lives!

Land opens up and doesn't look like it'll be a peninsula.

HE DOES IT AGAIN! He's rightly renamed to "Heracles".

Charriu's dream lumbermill spot. It's probably too far for me to settle first  alright

I am a prophet.

Gonna miss out on all that nice land. Commodore is our neighbor to that direction.
Since my plan is NOT to expand through my neighbors, I'm happy to have someone who probably won't attack me without gaining something out of it.

Two food connected in Excalibur. Size 3 next turn, then swapping to a worker.
BW will reveal copper next turn. I didn't write down in my notes when I was supposed to revolt to Slavery, fuck.
