[SPOILERS] ALWAYS PEACE? What will Lewwyn do?

Found the edge of Nakor. Started a worker in Noah. Settler is on the move. Tech back to 100%. Pottery in 5.

Now as for what I'll tech next after this. I was thinking AH, but as you may have noticed, neither of my new cities have animals in their tiles. That was on purpose so that I could delay AH. Maybe instead I go Polytheism for Hinduism or if it it gets taken, straight on to monotheism for Judaism. I have to check to my south, but my 4th city could go north of my 33rd and get wheat and silver in its first ring. Again no need for AH. Or I could go NE and get the rice. Both of these locations get me good start up cities without needing AH. I can instead focus on getting a religion real quick then double back for AH.

Another question there is do I grab hunting before AH in order to get the pre-req bonus? Any discount I can get is likely to be a benefit. I'll consider it.

Heh, I'm really thrilled with this turn. I settled my 3rd city and remember I started chopping the forest in that city last turn so the chop was coming in next turn and I wasn't going to have pottery in time for the chop to go into the terrace unless I wasted a worker turn and delayed the chop. Well the gold mine finished this turn. I switch over to it, which does stagnate growth, but it also got me pottery at the end of this turn allowing me to get that chop into the terrace with no waste. Beautiful. I was so happy I whipped the worker in Noah. The overflow will go into a terrace next turn. That worker will go and cottage the FP then start cottaging some other river grasses.

Let's see the pixelated version of it:

From here out Noah will be working cottages while growing and building Quechuas slowly. Then it'll switch over to a settler whip it out and regrow on cottages and warrior builds.

Elephants will start a Terrace next turn too. I will keep it working the gold while I farm the FP. When the FP farm is complete I'll work that to grow to 2 pop (takes 3 turns).

Zebras will switch to a Terrace and have a chop go into it next turn. After the chop, worker will move 1 N to the rice and farm it. Then he starts chopping/cottaging. Zebra will finish the terrace, grow to 2 and then build/chop a worker. With the two workers I'll then grow on rice and cottage while build a Q and whenever a chop comes in I'll switch to a settler. So first chop into terrace. Second chop into Worker. Last 4 chops into settlers.

As for tech, definately polytheism>AH. With the gold my tech is WAY above the others:

I should be able to get Hinduism. If I don't I go straight on to masonry and monotheism. AH can still wait. I have no animals as I've said and I can keep putting off that expensive tech until I settle a city that does. Or I'm about to. I will get writing after AH. Another reason to go Poly>masonry>mono or poly>priest is to get to monarchy which will be a big asset. I have a wines in the cap and HR will be very important.

One other thing to note. I'm losing 3 gpt because of maintenance. That was to be expected. My cities are further apart than any other cities I've placed in all my other PBEMs. FOr good reason too. Gold for one. Rice and forests for the other. One thing to note though is I don't have trade routes right now. But each of these cities are on the same river system. the catch is that my culture doesn't cover all the rivers so I need sailing to connect all these cities. The question becomes... is teching fishing and sailing worth the trade routes and the shared resources. We're talking 3 gpt from trade routes and 1 happy from gold. Problem is that you're looking at 3 turns for fishing and 6 for sailing. I mean eventually I need sailing for calendar, but there is only one water tile on this map. A 1 tile lake in the Cap BFC. Seems like I can hold off on sailing IMO, but I have to keep it in mind.

Small update. Turn already came back around. FP farm for Elephants will take 7 turns. Does waiting 7 turns to switch to a farmed FP for 3turn growth make sense when I can grow in 4 working the oasis and work both the gold and FP? Yeah, I thought not. I switched to the oasis.

Tech rate dropped of course. Poly takes 8 turns at 100% -3gpt without the gold mine. 0% tech gives 12gpt without gold mine. 18gpt with gold.

Considering this there's two choices: I could work the oasis for 2 turns while at 100% tech, then switch to the gold, and 0% tech. Then back to the oasis and 100% tech. This allows for 6 turns of 100% tech vs 4 turns of 100% tech. It slows growth by 1 turn and means 1 turn slower to getting a constant gold work.

Second choice is keep working the oasis. In 2 turns set tech to 0% for 2 turns. When I switch to 100% again I will have the gold and I can run 100% for 8 turns.

I will consider it as I see the turns.

Elephants grew, working gold now. I have 10 gold at -3gpt and Poly takes 3 turns. WOOT!

Currently #1 in GNP too so I think I'll get Hinduism. Only Cyneheard is ahead of me in the turn order, so that's another bonus.

I think Scooter just whipped his capital from 2 to 1. I think he whipped a terrace based on the GNP.

I'll put up pictures next turn.

How do you deduce he whipped a terrace from the...GNP?

Yep, that's what I meant with the terrace.

For Scooter's count:
T40:
3 Cities, 3 workers

I got Hinduism smile

Lots of things going on in this picture. I have a Terrace in both Noah and Zebras now. Hiduism in Elephants, so all my cities have culture. I finished the FP farm. That worker will chop two forests in succession next. SE then W. The worker at Zebras is going to chop. I'm going to have that chop go directly into a worker, then maybe whip the rest of the worker. From there overflow into a settler and have the two workers start choping more forests. WHile they chop I grow while building a Quechua, switch back to the settler when the chops come in.

I'm a little unsure what to do with the worker at Noah. He's going to finish the grass cottage (already cottaged the FP). Then finish the road on the wheat and I think then road north. I'm going to try to connect Noah and Zebras by road, then build a city on the green or red dot (leaning toward red) and connect the culture across the river that flows from the gold.

AH looks like it'll finish in 6 turns at 100%.

Overall I'm very please with how things are going. I think I'm ahead of the snowball and everyone else is trying to catch up. Nakor JUST planted his second city this last turn... Someone else is also at 3 cities, but I'm about a turn ahead in tech speed because I got my gold up a couple turns before they did. And I just got the first religion. Anyone going for Hinduism just wasted time.

Looking good. Just behind in MFG but my crop is number one. Nakor has 3 MFG. Dunno what he is doing... at all.

T 50 Update:

I have 3 cities, 4 workers, 1 settler completed EOT.

These numbers are a bit misleading though. I'll have another worker in 2 turns and 2 more settlers in about 2-3 turns!

Here you can see I have 3 workers chopping around Zebras. All of these chops are going into Settlers. Then they will be cottaging and finishing the road from Noah to the river. First settler will go on the previous green dot. With that I'll have 3 cities connected for trade routes without sailing. Also when the road to the river is complete I'll have Noah connected too.

Buddhism was founded last turn somewhere, maybe Nakor. I also finished AH. I have next tech set to masonry. I'm going to grab monotheism for Judaism and OR. Then I'll grab an easy priesthood and tech monarchy at a discount. Then writing which will have 3 prereqs for even more discounted beakers.

Check out these Demos:

And that my friends feels pretty darn good.
