Hrm. I'd prefer if we scouted a tad further than Pink Dot just so we can see just how close to enemy lines we're pushing. Without any more vision, though...I think it's a fine plan. It does require us to be somewhat prepared in case someone calls our bluff, particularly with Barb Warriors coming at some point, but I do think it puts us in a very strong position if no one has the ability (or guts!) to challenge us.

The scout managed to not make a statistical outlier out of himself. I therefore have named our new champion after my esteemed dedicated lurker.
![]() This is where copper has shown up. The scout is off to the east so I will spend one more turn checking out that potential site and then head west through the capital to find the best copper city we can. It is literally the only source we have located thus far. ![]() I am glad you like the idea and I actually agree with your sentiment. The scout, after heading west to scout the copper can swing down south and around to uncover a new swathe of land and see if we find anyone.
Fishing finished and we finished chopping the same turn. Work Boat complete end of turn and clams improved next turn. We will finish a second fast worker using this tile and a second chop. Then both workers will combine to 2turn the pigs.
I wonder if the pink dot move is maybe too much. We are already looking to REX with minimal military and build Stonehenge (a further hammer sink) and we're now also considering settling quite far out with no/little escort. It is either so audacious, that it is genius or it is really stupid.
It depends. I'm inclined to think Pink Dot isn't too close to enemy lands given that we have yet to make contact with anyone.

We have time yet to decide. There is a plains cow east of the two floodplains at the eastern city location. That would give a city with two floodplains, plains sheep and plains cow as our second city and is settle-able without any escort as it will be within our borders thanks to culture. I would say that is the safest option. There is an unknown option which is by the copper, which our scout will soon provide more information on the viability of. Then there is the desert hill, mass floodplains (6), wet wheat and plenty of hills. It is actually only one turn delay in settling for the settler. Main considerations here are more challenge to worker micro and barbarian threats. All that being said, we are building Stonehenge so it is therefore worth considering that we will have a natural means to expand our borders. We could go east initially, followed by the south site then possibly copper to the west. This is risky and it might be worth interjecting the copper city as city 3 instead to stave off any barbarian threat. All pending the scout's findings regardless.
How do you feel about this city for our second? It's weak without religion, but very strong with it and secures us copper.
![]() That means we can then claim the floodplains site next and then we have a nice safe (from barbs) third city to our immediate east.
I like it assuming we land a religion. Do you have any update on how likely that is?
Wait, nevermind. Henge is good enough to make this worth founding I think. (May 12th, 2015, 16:31)LogicalTautology Wrote: I like it assuming we land a religion. Even with Stonehenge, I don't like it as a second city as it would not have any strong enough tiles to work immediately.
Just a general note, remember lighthouse lakes are valid food...I think you might be sacrificing two good cities for one (slow) excellent city there.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out. You may be right. I will think about this further. Your way is certainly stronger in the long term. I suppose I am debating whether the extra help (grass hill sheep- not the world's best tile) earlier is worth the cost. I appreciate the input. |
