Famous (fictional) fishermen? Captain Ahab is a natural first.

Well, our neighbour is Superdeath, and he knows where we live...
I like the idea of fictional sailors and fishermen. I'll use that.

I thought of Santiago first, but that's because Hemingway's terser style actually sticks with me.

We decided to build a scout before a warrior, to send in Superdeath's presumed direction and hopefully spot potential War Chariots ahead of time. Superdeath knows The Wheel and Animal Husbandry, the latter of which is sped up by a turn. Recently I have had increasingly less faith in sims that go longer than about T30; this is one reason.
Superdeath declared war and moved his his scout into our land. For now I assume he's just passing through, which is fine (hence staying on scout). We will see next turn.

I've not read either of them; I'll make them my next books to borrow from our library. Any more recommendations for names (or books) welcome!

Animal Husbandry is in and this is the only horse we revealed. A city on the plains-hill 1W of the cow looks like a great site. We'll do our sims+dotmap properly when we reveal copper; doubly-so with Egypt nearby.
Superdeath's scout moved away with no shenanigans. Good riddance. I'm already having flashbacks to PB51; I'm going to have a really hard time getting along with SD this game. I think El Grillo permanently traumatized me.

Sorry about that! I'm glad that first traumatic episode didn't cause you to quietly pack your bag and leave.
As for this game, perhaps you could name a Worker after the Brothers Ruan, three fishermen who joined the band of outlaws in the Chinese classic Water Margin.

You could also go with Jack Aubrey or Gustaf Johansen.

I would like to add that your skill-level since that first game definitely has improved.

You're a downright sweetheart, Charriu.
We managed to play four turns today - not bad. Also, thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

Anyone want to make a bet that these gems are a contested resource in a contested jungle region?
Mjmd's pick looks better and better; Stonehenge->IMP settlers->IND forges. I'm not jealous, you're jealous!
