[Civ VII]Learning from Napoleon - A Civ VII Exploration/Tutorial

Yes, always play Fractal right now until more map scripts become available. It actually generates all sorts of different setups rather than the two blocky continents that everything else seems to toss out. I also recommend taking a look at this fan-made interface mod which has some basic quality of life improvements while we wait for the developers to fix things that should have been done before release:

Can unkillable missionaries block enemy movements?
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.

No, civilians stack with military units. Also those of your enemies, so moving to a tile with an enemy missionary just means your unit moves onto the tile as well. It's really quite annoying, you can't block conversions in any way. It becomes a fruitless race where you and your opponent spend production and gold and convert and reconvert the same cities over and over. Most of the Relic requirements are on first time conversion though, and the actual religious effects are so tiny as to be negligible, so you can just pump out an initial wave and then ignore religion (or do so altogether, I personally don't think even the initial investment of a temple and a missionary is worth it)

IIRC (don't have access to the game right now) you can even stack several civvies of different or the same player together.

Thank you for the detailed report and taking us along for the ride.

I just finished the Exploration Age in my first game and learned quite a lot already.

I got the Plague Crisis which impacted me a little bit more than the Religious one seems to have impacted you.
The major blow from the Plague was that it actually killed my highest level general and the game gave me no warning that this could happen.
The Plague really kills your units fast, when it hits, so make sure to move them out of your Urban Districts!

I really can't recommend a purchase right now. This is the last straw.

Observe Mikasa, the Meiji Japanese unique unit. I spotted this right away in game: THE MODEL HAS TRIPLE TURRETS!!

I've been aboard Mikasa, as no doubt many people have - she's still at drydock in Yokohama. And, obviously, she doesn't have triple turrets since she was built decades before naval engineering made those practical:

Just hte level of detail I've come to expect from the developers. Bah.

Started reading along. Appreciate the reports!

lol Did no one at Firaxis check the turrets, or did someone doing the art just think triple turrets looked cooler?

They probably were just lazy and wanted to use the same model as the other battleships.

Chevalier - if you love naval stuff I recommend youtube channel of Drachinifel. Its actually TOO much historical naval content.

Thanks for the story. Really helping me understand what 7 is about. So far all I've seen says wait a year or more for the bargain basement deal that includes lots of DLC.
