Okay, 'defensible' only up until Ximen and directly north of my current empire. After that, the land expands outwards. Sorry. As for dotmap, haven't bothered yet.
More importantly, I can chop two forests and squeeze out a Worker before Settler:
(Why am I only getting 22 hammers of overflow ingame, anyway? (70 - 40)/1.25 = 24, right?)

The biggest news this turn was foreign. I met Jowy this turn...
Holy cow - he razed Sian's third city! Graz'zt just recently popped borders, so the chances of Sian coming up with Copper and Hunting for a Spear seem quite low. Also, if my capital is any indication, there probably aren't any strategic resources in Sian's capital's fog.
Jowy himself still has only two cities. I'm liking my chances more and more by the minute.
Time for the rundown of the plan.
Whip Worker, overflow into Settler, then regrow and whip Library. Running this place as a GP farm seems like a bad idea, since I'll have the island city to take care of that.
Thanks to Kuanghai's production capacity being shot in the foot by the chopping, Ximen will have to build the island city's work boat. Also, while it's doing so, it'll have to work a blank plains hill to get enough overflow for a one-turn Missionary after the Settler whip. Because Ximen will build a Work Boat instead of Missionary, City 6 will be settled a turn earlier, T55, with the Pigs coming online a turn later.
One-pop whip Worker, then slowly grow building military.
I plan to one-pop whip a Chariot when I hit Size 2. I'm still woefully behind in Cottages, and after the whip I'll have 10 / 14 food, I won't lose much. I really need to get some Scouts running.

Let's take a look at Sian...
2 Warriors, and it looks like Sian hasn't even started the Copper mine.
Can someone explain to me why I'm only getting 22 hammers of overflow?
The way I understand it, I have 62/40 hammers in the Worker with +7 food and +1 hammer. EOT, I'll have 70/40 hammers, so my overflow will be 30/1.25 = 24...

Ah, now I see what you're getting at. I *think* its because you grew while building a food-unit, I dunno exactly why it happens, but thats one of the things I try to avoid doing more from superstition than logic.

You're playing as an Expansive leader, so you lose the 25% bonus worker production when you overflow into something that's not a worker. The game would be really broken if you could get the full overflow on an Expansive worker or an Imperialistic settler without the bonus getting divided out again when building something else.

But why 22 hammers instead of 24 [(22+8)/1.25] or 25 [(22/1.25)+8]?
Nothing happened this turn. Mardoc founded Judaism last turn and converted - I guess the religion founded in his capital and he needed the happy? (Judaism is at 17% spread, Buddhism at 5% spread). Bob founded his third city. Jowy pillaged the road he's standing on instead of attacking into Graz'zt.
