I think the best we can hope for out of CivFr is to suggest that their border with CFC might become lightly defended on the turns leading up to 175 and let their natural self-interest do some work. I doubt we'd be able to get them onboard with funding our research alongside UCiv.

All 3 of CivFr's neighbors will have their army in our territory. I'd be surprised if they don't attack somebody in response to that, but it's most beneficial to us if they attack CFC, and do it before we've lost more than just Starfall to them.
That said, I think CivFr's best move is to sit back and let the 3 aggressors have some leeway to increase the amount of damage they do to us, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wait a fair bit before launching said attack. We actually did try this once, and it didn't get very far. However, if Speaker wants to try again I'd be more than okay with that.
