I kind of assumed they were working improved tiles and weren't piloting a 1 winged airplane.
Mind I was thinking about keeping working an unimproved grassland to start pushing north, but I think the plan is get 2 more workers, and then go ham on the north as fast as possible.

Of course the turn after I whip the chariot he offers peace. He sent two, first one signalling he wants to team up against El Grillo. El Grillo has the GLH, which is prob part of it. I wouldn't think he has better scouting info than me, but time to put that Chairot to use.
Anyways, hoping he whipped axes and doesn't have a settler coming. I'll have city #5 settled turn 70 which is just garbage timing, but heh its really city #6.

Settled 5th/6th (really just keep saying it to make this expansion pace feel better) city this turn. Poor Elkad only has 3 and built Oracle so assuming someone took advantage of that. SD also still has 3. His non imperialistic self is going to have a rough time recovering. Tentative horrible dot map of the north. I don't like the Y spot, but with the placement of the clams, river, cow and gems ugh. I could settle both those cities 1NE, but then I don't get the clams for a while but pick up the cow earlier, but delay working the floodplain which food wise is very close to a cow and doesn't need improved right away. Also slightly closer and otherwise I have to settle the filler city to get to the island. I'm sending a very valuable axe into the jungle to go scout more, but settler will arrive before new info. Pretty sure someone will settle that island? up there so if I can race to it, I think the left x (1E of rice) is correct as clams will be taken. I can then back fill my gems and island. Either of those x's has a line of hills up to it, which is sad. Eventually I think I will settle that filler city especially if I can culturally grab control of the fish from El Grillo. Assuming I get those and no more that will bring me to 10. Obviously the rice jungle forward plant could very well be stolen by El Grillo or whomever else is up there, but I do plan on racing to it after Y (another reason to have an axe up there).

I also requested open borders from El Grillo to scout him. I don't think he has defogged to me. He shouldn't take the open borders request, but maybe he thinks I'll keep it open for later and he does have GLH. Plus I could be a potential ally vs SD.
EDIT pre post lol: switched Spore to a work boat which I will whip next turn. Unsure if this will be my full circumnav work boat or fish. Will try to figure out if I can get another one out. There isn't another good tile for it to work besides horse atm, so think whipping now makes sense.

El Grillo did not accept my open borders. This turn I learned something and faced an interesting decision.

Nifty; chariot can't take city because of movement and already attacked? Now El Grillo managed to play before me the last two turns, which means he will have an extra half turn to get a reinforcement to this city.
So why attack. You'll note most of the screenshot is focused on the fog and the lush jungle area NE. His one city is only 6 tiles away from my leftern most x. I would suspect he is in contention for this area. Also, because you'll note the area between El Grillo and SD is very food less. Now there is a fish off to the left maybe they will fight over, but I didn't know that. This looked like a natural DMZ for them, while I will have to fight later very likely (hopefully my SD border city can act like a DMZ on my SD front). He sent me a fish for crab at beginning of turn, what is interesting is if he had just sent open borders I may not have attacked. Him not accepting open borders also signals to me that he doesn't want me scouting him, meaning he also thinks we will be in conflict later.
Will see what shows up to defend the city next turn. I retreated 1s of the rice. With the promo I'll get next turn I should be near full strength. I actually have no clue how much promos heal, but it should be enough to take down a warrior.

Promos heal half of what is needed to maximum HP. Take this example:
Unit with 30/100 HP. We are missing 70 HP. Half of that is 35. So the promo heals 35.
Another unit 60/100 HP. We are missing 40 HP. Half of that is 20. So the promo heals 20.

Good to know. All the learning still occurring. Think I'm at 72. So would heal 14.
For the record I did test the chariot couldn't take the city before I declared. I do wish I had somehow gotten 1st half of turn, but El Grillo plays so promptly!

He had an archer in there. Forgot to check fortify and I rolled turn so I can't check if he got it in there 1st half of turn or not.
Offered peace. Didn't even raze the farm (both for politics and just in case he had a chariot of his own on the way). Last I checked I was last place military so losing 1 chariot is big.
In a totally unrelated note I'll whip settler for city #6 this turn.

I assumed that northern island would have been settled. It doesn't look like it. Also, for those voting on barbs in PB56, imagine your opponents getting free cities and never having been hit by barbs yet!
Mind you I basically got hit by barbs being next to SD. Really hoping there isn't a ton there and its size 2. Badly need more workers ect. 6th city will be settled turn 78. That barb city is also a nice border city if I don't get the left most jungle city.

Honestly can't express how second-hand satisfying it would be in this game to see you fully turn the tables and eat SD sometime down the line. There's nothing better than a good comeback.

I don't have high hopes. SD actually has the best geopolitical position in local area as it stands. If either El Grillo or I invade SD, the other person can just come in and prevent it. Which means no matter how crappy SD is doing, he is fairly safe. It is possible I can hit some kind of timing attack. SD has more incentive to attack me based on the land and sea layout. El Grillo looks like he will be contending for the jungle area up there. Hopefully there is someone on the other side of El Grillo to distract him. But ya my empire will be very split able by attack because I'm so stretched out (also hard to defend). Because it is hard to defend it will also be hard for me attack unless one of the others is busy. El Grillo also looks split able, but he is the Khmer meaning if he gets construction in a relevant time frame he is basically safe for 2 ages.
But ya every whip is going into settlers and workers atm. Hopefully I can get that western hill city up north. Meaning I need IW. Thankfully the international trade routes are keeping me afloat. I just finished my first cottage.
