Probably not in the early game, unless you're getting swarmed with Axes or something and it won't delay settling by much, although I suppose it depends on how desperate someone is to unlock the HE.

Settling Red and White dots next:
![]() First ring food is too good to pass up, and so is the gold tile. I think I get another pair of trade routes automatically. Or do all the river tiles between Shimatsuken and Red Dot need to be in my culture? Not having to rush a subpar copper city is nice.
Yes. Without Sailing there needs to be a path of river tiles between your cities under your control via culture.
EDIT: This means for white dot you need the first border pop from Shimatsuken and for red the second border pop and the first border pop from red EDIT2: And for completeness. For violet you need a road 1SE of it. EDIT3: And more if you settle yellow first, then white will get trade routes without any border pops

Since it seems I can connect rivers with roads on the tiles I lack culture, it should be fairly low effort to get everything connected. I'm going for The Wheel after Archery, then Pottery to get cottages running on those floodplains. ![]() Terrain screenshot. We're in the process of uncovering our immediate north. Jungle belt sucks, but if it's rich land it could be worth it to go for early IW.
That should be possible with roads as lon as the roads start and end in your culture

I'm gonna do some sandboxing this weekend to figure out the best way to expand. Getting the Pro bonuses rolling early is important.
Hey I also wanted to inform you about a tiny UI bug that only affects you. When you hover over a foreign trade route in your city screen it will still show the domestic bonus and a wrong number in the hover itself. Don't worry all the numbers in the back and the trade route section are still correct. It's only a UI bug which I fixed in future versions.

Third city is named after Sanzang's NP:
And here it is: ![]() We're settling the closer cities first instead of rushing the gold. Buddha Palm gets automatically connected for another +2 GPT. Shimatsuken gets a chop towards a Totem Pole to grab and work the Cows tile ASAP. Maybe putting it towards another worker might have been better after all, but what's done is done. What are the last numbers in the score board? City count?
Yes, city count. Stays at blue 1 without contact.
