[PB56] NobleHelium Tells It Like It Is

Always interesting when people have different trait valuations. smile

It feels inconsistent to me to say that Cre is too weak and monuments need a buff at the same time, since buffing monuments is essentially nerfing Cre.

I think of all 3 early traits roughly adding 30h per city, and those 30h snowball in different ways. You settle the city faster with IMP, but I'm not sure that's better than chopping out a size 1 granary or getting access to 2nd ring resources earlier. Generally I've held the view that those snowball bonuses are about equal, and I've favored Exp and Cre over Imp for their secondary bonuses.

EXP's secondary bonus is that it has full effect on the capital, while the other two don't. CRE sort of has an effect on the capital, though it is not at full strength, you can often get a little value from the earlier 2nd and 3rd ring border pops. But in addition it has the library bonus.

There's definitely an argument that you should just dotmap well and CRE is not getting the same value as the other two. The counter-argument is that you can also dotmap differently with CRE to maximise it. Personally I remember feeling very happy with how CRE worked for me in PB38.

I think Gaspar's argument is that monuments should be buffed and then Creative should be compensated for monuments being buffed. I'm not actually arguing for a monument buff, I am saying they really suck though. I don't know if monuments should be buffed or not.

As for how good Creative actually is, I should definitely have a stronger opinion after this game. wink

Would "A naming scheme consisting of other people's naming schemes" be too cute?

A few other, random ideas:

* Uninhabited islands

* Holidays

* Poisonous snakes

* Defunct fads

* Formerly ubiquitous, currently bankrupt retail chains

* Elements, or some subset thereof

Uninhabited islands sounds interesting, do you have a handy list? I did some Googling but the lists are rather medium in quality. I did elements in my first game, which was a natural one to pick. Bankrupt retail chains might be OK.

I don't think a naming scheme of naming schemes would produce great results because the city names would be vastly different. I prefer some consistency in the names.

Unique foods? For instance: Walking taco/Puppy Chow/Scotcheroo's/Sloppy Joe/ect Are mostly Mid-Western foods/names for certain foods.

There's so many vacant islands in the world, I'd just go into Google Maps and find some which look interesting. Going to be no shortage in the Poles and thereabouts.

Please include Null island

That's a good one!

My favorite (actual) uninhabited island is Bouvet. I appreciate that it's a "dependency" of Norway, despite being vacant. Maybe the penguins count for tax deductions, or something.

Antarctica is the best uninhabited island
