Mali start looks like Agriculture -> Hunting -> AH. Worker farms the rice, then NW+road 1t, camps and roads the ivory then goes to pasture the sheep. Assuming you can tech all three in time it looks fine to me. Probably grow to size 2 then build another worker with the ivory + rice.

Here's the thing about HC, we need to beeline the Oracle. Our question has to be which set of starting techs will get us to finishing the oracle and pottery the fastest.
