t86 mini update
I'm in trouble. Followed my disorganized plans after I lost the Great Library and had my city razed, I failed to keep my military up. I was doing okay earlier, but my flat power curve for a good 10 turns was too tempting an invitation for AutomatedTeller. He has 2 catapults, 5 war chariots, 2 axemen, 1 archer, 1 spearman and 1 warrior parked by my NE city. I have 2 axemen, 3 spearmen and 1 archer defending it. I have walls up, raising defenses from 40% to 50% and limiting his ability to bombard. If he doesn't attack next turn, he can bring another war chariot, a catapult and an axe. I will be able to get another 2 axes into the city. I think I can hold this city, but if he chooses to walk past it into the heart of my empire I'll be in trouble. I'm rushing troops everywhere to fight this menace, but either way this doesn't look good. What's worse, I could easily have built another 5-6 troops with the hammers I spent on failgold investments
Lesson learned: Don't give up hope just because your plans get thwarted, you'll regret it if you fail to make new ones and think them through. I still haven't given up on this game, and I will fight every step of the way to keep AT out. And I'm still kicking myself for letting a good opening slip out of my hands.
He also has 2 catapults down by my southern gems city, but I have a ton of troops there. Walls are up in 3t, if he doesn't attack before then I think he'll have to pass me. Then again, I don't particularly want him to do that. To sum up, crap on a stick
Lurker question: What is the ethical approach in case AT does enough damage to me that I won't have any chance of winning? While I have no intentions of giving my cities to anyone else, would it be justified to pull my troops over to his border in an attempt to repel the invader that I know is underway? I'm not doing this out of spite, just want to play honourably. I feel if I don't go all out in trying to stop him, I'm not being fair to the other players in the game. I don't mean to be spiteful in any way to AT, he's played a good game so far and he deserves to be in the lead.
