Killed kjn's stack. Lost 2 war chariots doing so and got a little lucky. I won a 47% odds attack and my initial very low odds attacks on a spear on a hill behind a river by a war chariot (1.5% or so) did damage - attacks like that can easily do little to no damage.
2 war chariots for a spear, axe and skirmisher is a good exchange (40 vs. 62 hammers), plus the extra GG points for it being in my territory.
Went to clear a banana, in prep for calendar... didn't have IW (which i had started but not finished) - so I finished off IW = found iron near Pitch, but not usable by Pitch, and in a great place near wheat and gems, which is the last place i wanted to dump a city anyway... so that's good.
Have to build up some military, but forges will help with that. And everyone seems focussed on my barb cities and not, you know, my core. So those are pretty thin.
kjn has shown a chariot, so I have to be careful of mobile forces from him now, too.

Catwalk is mad at kjn for managing to build the GLib first. presumably, at least. KJN is doing well with building lots of wonders - course, he's industrious, so that's not surprising...

Life is getting very crowded up by Be. Catwalk is looking to settle a city to take the gems there and sticks and bricks have a mixed force of impis and axes that are going to do something, i guess. I'm not sure what - they can't take anything, though they can make my life pretty complicated.
The question is - is Be even worth defending? I think catwalk city (assuming he puts it there) is kind of dumb - I will be able to road up to it and attack it in a turn if I want and then it's done, with minimal losses if I can get a couple more axes up there. More if I have to attack it with war chariots, but then, war chariots are cheap compared to a settler.
This is a map of the area:
I am thinking, right now, that I can hurt the axes enough with 2 archers and 1 axe to kill the spears with 2 axes and then use WC to kill the 2 axes. Thus, killing 2 spears, 2 axes, a settler and a missionary at the cost of 2 archers and an axe, which is a huge win for me. I have to figure out if that attack plan has a chance of winning, or if I'll just throw away some archers...

trying to decided if I should go:
archer on axe (lose)
axe on axe (probably lose)
archer on spear (lose)
axe on spear (win)
war chariot on damaged spear (win, hopefully)
war chariot on axe (win)
or start with the archers.
or maybe, just go axe on axe twice and then archer on spear twice. I'm about 57% chance likely to win one of the axe on axe attacks and then I should win an axe on spear, so I might only need to sacrifice 1 archer on a spear. I think that's the way to go

Tons of military up by Be - stick has something like 5 axes and 3 impis in the area - I'm thinking he might be looking to strike. I also have to be careful he doesn't come at my core. He might be going for catwalk, though.

Sticks was just trying to defend a new city he was planting to the SOUTH of Be.
Very crowded neighborhood...
catwalk has 2 axes and 1 spear - the other is away trying to harass a war chariot. Calendar is 4 now.

I killed Catwalk's city of Agra.
It was more expensive than I had hoped (2 archers, 2 axes and a war chariot) to kill 2 axes and a spear. And a city, of course)
Interestingly, Catwalk ALSO built the shwedegon paya - not a terrible build for a spiritual civ, but he's built a lot of wonders...

So, that's:
16*2
23*2
20
vs.
23*3
66
98 hammers for me, 135 for him. So that's a win. if you include a sac of a war chariot for a missionary, that's 118 to 162. And if I can kill the spear that kills the war chariot without losing the unit I send to do that, that will be 185 hammers to 118.
to any lurkers:
if catwalk is upset about my post (but not saying anything), let me know. the banter thread can be great fun, but it can also kill a game if people think they are piling on. I know I meant it in fun... but on the internet, it's not always easy to tell...

Catwalk killed that war chariot, but I killed the spear that did it. I should be able to do another WC for axe exchange, which might get me close to my GG. He did kill another WC in another part of town, though.
whipped in a court in interjection and a market in Lava. Went from -7 to +5 at 40% Don't have the biggest military anymore, so am building a lot of WC. One more settler, as well.

This is the situation up north with Catwalk.
Catwalk is going to lose an axe next turn (unless he has a spear I don't see that can get into the game) - if he does, I'll just turn around and go.
he can retreat his axe and worker the set of two workers. I'll kill an axe, but his workers will be safe.
He can retreat everything, then he'll lose the axe.
Or, now that I think of it, he can attack the WC on the hill at decent odds and retreat the worker. That's what he'll probably do, since I didn't promote it. doh!!
Well, probably not that much of a choice, after all...
I thinking it's time to start sending chariots at catwalk. he has a lot of nice wonders...
