Oh, I guess a part I didn't really answer. No it doesn't really change settling thoughts for me. I can totally see why Commodore is leaving us alone, the land between us is garbage and not worth fighting over, but he has some decent stuff up by him in a northern strip.
Anyway, I think settling towards him (except horse city) before MoM is generally a bad idea. If anything the map knowledge reinforces the fact that I'd just as soon let him do his thing while we do ours rather than racing him for foodless sites.

Main thing is that with our abject failure to take Nakor's city, we really need to get some more luxuries from somewhere and there aren't many options right now. Maybe a dye in the jungle is within reach?

The ones that are most in reach are still the 2 held by Nakor's city unfortunately. Happy is going to be pretty difficult for us for awhile.

Hey scooter,
I was questioning with Noble if that pig was even on a second island or if the landmass turns south to form a giant bay to the north of our capital. Either way, by the end of our chat I had talked myself back into settling the pig next, but we should scout as much as possible before we do. When I can see the game I'll recommend a specific plan, but I would try to scout as much as possible with the scout/archer before choosing where to drop off the settler. Hopefully we can find a nice spot here and not orphan any good tiles by mistake.
To get the settlers for pigs/horse and then for marble/banana, I think we need to get consecutive settlers out of Red Wings, or possibly a settler in the capital after the worker there finishes, whichever is faster. We also need to start preparing worker actions towards that city location: roading towards the spot. I'll take a look at that tonight and see if I can get a worker plan going.

Turn 078
Peace.
Moving right along. Annoying axe coming in from the north:
However, Great Wall may make him irrelevant. If it completes, he teleports out of our land, correct? Also, I can totally see why Commodore doesn't seem super interested in fighting us. Just look at the strip of land between us:
Spot the food resource! Plains cow is not food and floodplains isn't much better, so that's a big fat zero. Fighting over this land is senseless. FWIW, he has a good bit of food on the strip parallel to this up north, but the geography is funny here as huge Big & Small is prone to be. Anyway, let's check in with our galleys:
This guy should be full bore on contacts & circumnav. We'll see how far he can make it. In the east:
OK, archer and settler aboard. Any opinions for how to handle this next turn? I was sort of thinking move 1NE, drop archer 1E of pigs, then move clockwise around island. I guess we could drop the settler with the archer if the coast is clear? But definitely don't plant until we get better vision around the coast line. Also, here's our possible marble site:

Yeah, 2W of the marble is the way to go. Preliminary island city location I'd say is NE of the pig, since that's plains and not grassland like the other tiles.

Naming Things
1) Get your city name requests in. The next two people to have dibs is NobleHelium and Krill.
2) We've been naming our land units after whatever city they were spawned from. Manny Machado is our new Spear, Cyneheard will be happy to hear. Our naval units? They're all going to be names of Minnesota Vikings. Adrian Peterson and Cris Carter are doing some serious exploring right now.
