Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Pindicator emerges from the wilderness to play pb74

Aetryn, I hope you approve of the name I chose for city #3:

Wheat, (wild?) horses, and relatively flat - only one place came to mind.

That's Amicalola's scout, so he must be our northern neighbor. Disappointing to see he survived to scout this way, as he certainly has spotted the Gems. I put our EP on him.

Warrior finishes end-of-turn out of the capital, and each other the other 2 cities will build one more warrior apiece before BW comes in.

I do like it. I only wish we had a heavily forested area to be Olympic. The last time I was up there I visited Hurricane Ridge in July, I think, and it started to snow. It was pretty amazing.

I love the Olympics - i hope we find a good spot to name after them.

Wheat at The Palouse is farmed and demos are looking very nice:

That's an 8 point lead over 30-food 2nd place. Though we do have a few "bad" pop working unimproved tiles that needs to be whipped away once we get into Slavery. We're due to revolt on t50 and whip out the next worker & settler on t51.

Important International News: Tarkeel has taken and kept a city off of Dreylin! That's incredibly early to lose a city and probably the beginning of the end for Dreylin (speaking from experience here, sadly).

To our southwest, I've marked resource that have been improved:

I'm guessing that Bing put a city on the hill SW of the Wheat, the other is trickier... If he has Animal Husbandry than putting it between the Horse and the Fish seems simple enough, but it also makes settling the rest rather awkward, so I think perhaps that Fish city is a little farther south.

We really need to get a scout down here

The Palouse ...

Had to look this up. Really nice landscape, beautiful little hills. Seriously lacking trees though.

I'm sure it won't be long before our version is seriously lacking trees also.

Our warrior is starting to get a view of the north. (Screenshot tilted to fit everything in.)

The horses were improved, which is going to help out our mfg worries and the warrior at The Palouse will finish at the end of turn. The warrior at Finisterra also finished this last turn - at some point I'm going to need to think about moving these warriors out to scout ahead of our borders. Or I could do that with the first chariot.

Copper revealed next turn. That will impact a lot of the decisions that come next.

Copper

Not ideal.  We are going to need to reroute the next settler and grab the copper, settling on the hill where the Lion currently sits.  At least I have a good name for that spot already in mind.

We revolted to Slavery this turn.  Next turn whip the settler at Goat Rocks and the 3rd worker at Finisterra.  Then the plan is something like this:

Black lines are roads, though I've made a slight edit to the above:  no road on the flood plains but instead a road on the plains hill to its south.  Big Agnes finished the road the horse was on this turn, and Marmot moved to hill 52 in the screenshot above, completing the road on that hill on t52.  Big Agnes is going to move to the other plains hill on t51 and completes that road on t53.  They both road the copper next, finishing that on t54.  Then the settler will move as indicated, founding Cispus Pass on t54.

Working on the plan to get settlers out for the northern cow/pig and central ivory/fp locations as quicly as possible.  Pottery is our next tech but likely I will be putting chops into settlers instead of granaries- i know it's more efficient to put chops into buildings but the need is settlers right now.  Also considering if I want to go Sailing ahead of Pottery - how long it takes to build a galley and where we build it from is going to be the deciding factor there.

We might be forced to settle on the copper:

Bing moves a spear up and has yet to play, so I suppose next turn we get to see if this is harassment or just a sentry.

Taking a look at his power:

I see 3 - maybe 4 - increases of 4k power or more. Definitely 3 and there's a 3k bump near the end that could be a finished unit combined with a whip. One of those bumps has to be Wheel, so I don't think he has more than 1 or 2 units more. Likely if this is harassment he is just looking to score some hits before we hook up copper and get some units out.

With just a single spear, though, I think we can pump out units, park them on the forest south of the corn, and then if he tries to go after either Goat Rocks or Finisterra we swarm him down. Alternatively we stack warriors in a city and wait for copper to hook up.

Speaking of which, worker and settler were whipped out of Finisterra and Goat Rocks. Next turn the settler moves SW-NW-NW to the plains hill and then on t53 we will have roads on both hills leaving us with the options of either 1) settling on the copper t54, or 2) settling as planned and having the copper hooked up on t55. Important note: We do not have Hunting yet so there will be no automatic upgrades of warriors in production queues.

Demos after whipping are still strong.

Power is the only issue but that should be solved shortly. Even if we have to toss out our plans to do so.

Lurker question: Bing has played before me in the reload of t51. Now if I move my warrior in the same fashion and find he has moved his spear forward from that hill, he'll be able to kill the warrior on his half if next turn. Before I would have had the ability to run the warrior back if he advanced. So I propose I keep the warrior in place this turn. Thoughts?
