Delving into the C&D a bit...

Scooter definitely finished Bronze Working end of turn 11. There's 8k increase in soldier points globally and he gained a tech.
I think we have a number of workers finished building too, because we now have 3 people working 3-food tiles with their citizen; last turn it was 1.

Turn 13

First contact!

That's Rego's scout underneath the dyes. He appears to live to the east of us and our scout will head that way to scope him out next. With luck he may think we are from the west or the south, considering our scout moved due E this last turn to get to him. Benefit of making contact on our turn: we get 4 more EPs than he does. Likely this is the first contact in the game.

I suppose if we wanted to meet everyone fast all we'd have to do is chill out in the hub. But I want to scout east then I'll double back.

At the end of the turn we finished Animal Husbandry...

This makes us the first to two techs, but most people have either already teched Bronze Working or are likely teching it now. Speaking of which, Ruff did pick up BW at the end of last turn. That means he was working 10c for 13 turns in order to hit BW in that time frame (assuming he didn't shuffle tiles). Which lines up with me saying he had to be our 21GNP. (Except there were a few turns lately where we had 20 as top, so it looks like he swapped off for a while...)

Turn 15

Quickly played out the turn on my way to work this morning. Not much to be done still: our worker is still going after the farm, and our scout is heading up Rego's arm of the pinwheel. Hopefully we'll map out a coastal trade route and make a quick sailing appealing.

The only change comes in C&D: Rego finished his farm last turn. And that lines up with what we've seen of him. 7f+h/t would get him a t10 worker. Worker farms rice t10-t14 and it finishes t14. Sure enough, the top crop stat in demos changed from 5 to 7.

Yep, exciting times...

Turn 018

Our scout has made it out of the jungle! On towards Regoarrarristan

Demos have shown Rego built a warrior at the end of his turn 16. This turn I think he's building a 2nd worker. I really can't say, though, because max food is now 8 and max mfg is 4, so if he's got the rice farmed then he must be working the unpastured sheep tile. But why do that over the fish for a settler? So I'm guessing a 2nd worker.
Edit: Duh, he doesn't have Fishing! That's Ruff. I keep mixing Rego & Ruff up in my notes. So Rego is going settler at size 2, like we are.

Also, scooter picked up a tech. Considering that scooter's best tile to work is that fish (has he netted it yet? 2 people are at 8 food and one is at 7 food so I'm guessing he has. Anyway, 6 turns since his last tech, this tech gave 0 soldier points. I'm guessing Agirculture.

Back home, we've started on our settler. And we came just short of finishing Mining.

The worker will start a pasture next turn, which will finish in time to speed up the settler by another turn. But I'm also going to take away a turn to finish the warrior we have in queue. Right now that warrior is at 12/15, so as soon as the pasture finishes we'll swap to the warrior and get him out to scout that west coast ahead of the settler -- if there's seafood it may change where the initial city goes. If nothing out of the blue pops up the 2nd city will be planted 1N of the pigs.

But by putting the warrior out first we also get 1h overflow that goes into the settler. So our settler will finish on t27 with 101/100h - and that 1h overflow is going to be lost due to the IMP bonus. This brings in some more tile micro: I need to swap off the sheep tile to work the fish tile for 1 turn, sometime before the sheep pasture finishes -- t19, 20, or 21. I could have done it this turn also, but it doesn't make a difference with overflow and rounding. (By meeting Rego we're going to lose 1b of rounding the overflow off of Mining, but nothing can be done about that.) And working the fish over the unpastured sheep will get us an additional 2c.

Uh how do you know Rego is building a settler and not a worker? Does he need to work a PFH to activate the EXP bonus for the worker? I don't remember who settled on the PH and who didn't, it's all a mess for me.

Turn 21

Well, look what I found just outside Regoarrarr's demesne:

You can see his brown borders poking through the fog. Last turn my scout was on top of the grass hill by the corn, and he had a warrior 2N of that hill. This turn the warrior ducked away into the fog, which felt like a trap to me: he was going to try to snipe my scout if I pushed up towards his city. Rather than guessing whether his warrior went, I stuck to the coast -- although I should have finished the turn on the sugar. Next turn I'll move onto the sugar and then look at the hill if the warrior isn't nearby.

Demos...

...were a pain to figure out this turn. (I guess I should have figured it wouldn't have been easy when Rego sent me a PM complaining about how hard it was to do C&D from the middle of the turn order.) Everybody got a score increase, which I determined aligned like this:
  • Ichabod: Grew his capital to size 2 & researched a tech
  • Regoarrarr: Researched a tech
  • Ruff_hi: Researched a tech
  • Scooter: Land points for 8 tiles

Soldier points shot way up: 20,000 points to spread among everybody. And the minimum went from 2,000 last turn to 11,000 this turn -- so that made Ichabod easy. He grew his capital to size 2 (1k soldier points) and teched Bronze Working (8k pts). Similarly Rival Best of 17k is easily explained by Rego teching Bronze Working; he was 9k last turn. So that gives me 4k more points, meaning 2 people finished warriors last turn. Ruff had to be one of them since he was at 10k soldier points last turn -- well, Ruff could have teched Sailing or Hunting, but at 8 turns since his last tech that would be too long for Hunting and too soon for Sailing. Most likely he teched Agriculture; that lines up perfectly with him likely working a plains forest hill the 8 turns (likely to pump out a work boat for the fish he settled by). And the last warrior is a toss-up between Ichabod and Scooter. I gave it to Ichabod since he grew to size 2, and scooter likely would put hammers into a workboat while he was growing.

Bonus: we're gaining 1 extra beaker per turn, thanks to the known tech bonus Rego gives us for knowing Bronze Working. Thanks Rego! thumbsup

That's a fair point. I was correcting my assumption that it had to be a worker, and I probably over-corrected. He could be going worker-worker, especially since he'll get it quick enough being EXP. But what will those workers do? Chop out a settler? Or farm? He's 2 techs away from Pottery still, which is what these capital locations are begging to have (thanks to the awesome bendy river we have). So while he could potentially be building a worker, I'm feeling confident in my settler prediction.

Two techs from Pottery? Mali is Wheel/Mining.
