[Spoiler] Fintourist loses his multiplayer virginity

How much culture could CRE Viqsi be generating? Probably only 4 this early in the game... That's no help is it? I haven't got any other ideas...

Yes, only 4. Maybe someone got lucky and popped random gems or something with the mine..

Turn 25

Now we have a nice turn pace. Let's catch up those vets! In the game nothing special happened. My worker completed the first piece of road towards city 2. My warrior heads to the grassland hill. Last turn it looked like Hydra is planning to scout my passage. On that hill I can see when the scout arrives and possibly intimidate him from scouting my area. I don't really know whether I would want to attack the scout if it would land next to me. That must be decided later on the spot.. hammer

Azza grew his capital to size 3.

Viqsi will get border expansion next turn. She would have received it already, but she has revolted into slavery at some point.

Rival top GNP dropped to 30, which is still higher than what I would expect. Everything is now pretty even as everyone except Viqsi are currently at size 3. I post demos only once in a while, because personally as a lurker I would not want to stare them every turn. But here they are:

2nd in GNP, 4th in Production, 1st in Food. That's quite good for me for now. At least I'm not totally behind yet! jive Later it will be interesting to compare my development against the Vets.

I decided to allocate my EPs now towards Sareln. There were two reasons:
1) He should be the most experienced player in this game
2) He can build Preats
Viqsi will be my second target for getting graphs. I want to know if there are Numidian Cavalrys coming my way. Unlikely at this map but it's better to keep eyes open!

Turn 26

Another quiet turn. My scout has revealed more of the map centre. I kind of expected that there would be something amazing that would encourage settling, but currently there is nothing dramatic visible. Now the plan is to go SE. It looks like that I won't meet Azza for a good while.

Someone topped my food stat at the expense of lower production, but otherwise nothing happened in the darkness.

"Ace" has been number 1 in top cities ranking for a while. I do not remember the exact calculations that determine the order, but it was some kind of combination of culture, size, food, production & commerce. Obviously that listing does not tell much, but nevertheless high ranking is not a bad thing.

Turn 27

Real life has delayed my reporting a bit, but let's do some catching up..

Turn 27 was very uneventful. Agassi continued roading, second worker finished at the end of the turn. I changed research to pottery for one turn since I believed Sareln is teching BW with the game highest GNP and I did not want to give him an extra beaker. Small nuisance is better than no nuisance.. Earlier sight of copper would not change my T28 micro anyway.

Turn 28

My capital started producing my first settler and my two workers moved onto forests so that chopping can start next turn.

If Hydra's scout is coming my way and taking the path that I expect, it will become visible next turn. My warrior is waiting and will be staring at him angrily. Maybe he will get the message and goes away lol

Azza grew to size 4, researched a tech and got 3000 soldier points. At this point there are so many different possibilities, but I did put him on Hunting for now.

Copper became visible and it is luckily not exactly on the tile where I want my 2nd city. It is in fact located NW of my warrior. I do not plan to plant a city there in near future. Earliest city No. 4. I will keep doing C&D and see if I need to change plans for defensive reasons.

After I ended my turn, rival best GNP increased with 1 point confirming that Sareln is the mysterical GNP leader and currently researching BW.

I guess I will get to play T29 before I leave to Sweden for 2 nights. I will leave here tomorrow instructions so that Old Harry can cover T30 for me. smile

Hi Old Harry! The game did not proceed as quickly as I expected so here are the instuctions for T29! I will take care of T30 when I'm back.

Capital:
- no changes, builds settler and works Rice, Sheep and unimproved fish

Research:
- 100 % Pottery

Workers:
- Start chopping

Warrior:
Stays on the hill and scares Hydra away if the scout arrives. (I'm not exatly sure anymore whether he becomes visible at my T29 or his. I assume former)

Scout:
- moves SE

Technical stuff:
- When you have played send the save to calebburney@gmail.com
- I have sent you my Civ password with PM
- Can you forward the T29 save to fintourist.rb@gmail.com so that I can take screenshots and check the demos when I'm back

Many thanks for your help!! I hope I did not forget anything.. smile

Turn 29

Many thanks Old Harry for your help!

Domestic plans were outlined in the previous post, Hydra's scout did not show up yet. We'll see whether this will change next turn or if he chose a different path.

My scout seems to finally finish jungle wandering:

Sareln grew his capital to size 4, finished BW and started researching something with less bonuses. Rival best GNP dropped from 33 to 26. Viqsi also finished a tech. Many options there, I have her now on Animal Husbandry. The game has already reached the state where my tech C&D is not far from guessing...

Turn 30

This was domestically again a quiet turn that is not worth a screenshot.

However, it was interesting to see that Azza double-whipped his capital back to size 2. I assume that he has now the first IMP-settler ready.

Viqsi, who has remained at size 2 already for a good while was the first to settle 2nd city. She claimed 8 new land tiles and I guess that she settled the pig-gold-cow-clams city. That fits in fact well with my latest tech guess of Animal Husbandry.

I will settle my 2nd city during T34, so I will be a bit behind Azza & Viqsi, but I think it's okay, because I don't get EXP or IMP benefits. Additionally I have at least currently a larger capital.

Hydra and me are currently the only ones, who have not switched into Slavery. My revolt is scheduled for T33 when the Settler is travelling.

Btw, for some reasons my actual tech rate towards Pottery does not match my calculations. I have used the formula from Civfanatics site:
Beakers applied to Technology = FLOOR (FLOOR ((Total Base Beakers + 1) * KCwT modifier) * Prerequisites modifier)

I create 16 base beakers, 1/5 civs have Pottery and I get 40 % pre-req bonus. I get 25 beakers from my calculations, but in reality I only receive 24.. Help anyone?

No problem. smile

Maybe they don't have pottery? Does your gnp change if you switch to another tech you have two pre-requisites for? (if there is one...)
