Yeah that's what I have been doing. So I'm in the mod, trying to connect to 2058 and when I click connect it crashes out.

The laptop did say when I installed civ 4 that the game might run slow because the laptop isn't fast enough (It can run 6 at high graphics fine so I assume it is as the game is rather old) perhaps it feels it won't be able to cope with that many leader slots?

The only other crash I remember experiencing was due to screen resolution, which gave me fits once when I installed a new monitor. I remember having to break into the _Civ4Config file to manually set that.

Perhaps that is similar for you with a new computer, but not sure if that would happen with a fresh install. Also, this advise is coming from a tech novice, so use at your own comfort level. Maybe someone more versed can add to this.

YES! The game is crashing if I try to change the screen resolution. Most bizarre. I had hoped steam would fix the running old games on newer PCs issue. Obviously not. I'll try to crack the config file tonight, but for a start I just uninstalled reinstalled the BTS portion of the game and will see how that goes.

No joy on a full uninstall reinstall. I get these messages. I do not get to see the civ selection screen before the crash to desktop. Tried deleting to refresh the ini files too. More bizzare is that 30 and 35 work fine. It also works fine in SP.

I am almost there with being able to play. The mod was double foldered. For some reason the mod became read only and I am struggling to make it not read only, so I tried it renamed as a different thing. It won't let me do that, so once I find out how to make the files in that folder not read only I'll be able to go into this game.

Problem is sorted. So I spent ages being an idiot and not realising that the folders were double nested. That would have solved it.

However I hit a weird windows 10 bug where onedrive makes everything forever read only. Trying to sort it was getting nowhere, and as I have only had the thing a week or so I reckoned it would be quicker to set it up from scratch again. So reloaded to nothing. Steam and civ will need to download overnight but hopefully should be able to finish things in 24 hours.

PB27 reloaded to REM's last login save (couldn't locate the logout saves file, it was only a ten-minute turns so I hope there aren't too many moves to replay)

PB30 reloaded to Sareln's last login save (whole turn to replay)

PB34 reloaded to Kim Jong Un's 16/11/12 logout save (who knows)

PB35 reloaded to WarriorKnight's last login save (whole turn to replay)

Can players please log in and pause where needed.
