Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] - tales of Brennus, famous Chinese warlord

yuris125 Wrote:Oracle on T46... we probably could've gotten it
As I thought smile - but we wouldn't necessarily be better for it, we would be without library and with less army

yuris125 Wrote:Not sure if you noticed, but we have iron in Beijing's 3rd ring, so we can go ahead with the 3rd city in the jungle. Unless you have better ideas smile
How do you see it?
I want to see exact lcation, but 3rd ring of Beijing is the expected location (I'd bet NE if I had to wink ) - so I think jungle city is the plan. Timing: next turn if Holkan doesn't move badly for us, 2-3t if it does. Axe will be coming this way soon (Robert Tye might protect from Holkan, but won't make one go away, neither will chariots).
I just want to check Iron location - new resource might have improved it enough to consider (...especially if it's NW after all and possible to combine with gold or silver). I don't think so, though!

Iron can be combined with silver, but with far away sheep as food source. Or can be used for a nice production citu 2E1N of it. I'll stay with 1SW of Gems, though! Holkan prevented founding this turn, if he moves at all I'll found next turn. Axe under way.
Judaism fallen this turn! This mean I abandon Masonry->Monotheism and go almost straight for currency - with detour to Fishing (crabs look like a tile Beijing really needs right now). a turn later and I'd already have a lump of beakers invested in Masonry...

Holkan still nosy, will be taken out by Axe next turn if stays where it is. Mayan Axe is coming, will be killed by Chariot if need be. Mayans seem interested in the area! or just are trying to slow us down.
Celtic Pride built Temple of Solomon - so they're judaists (and have used Great Prophet for creating this wonder! - I don't see the great gain here, do I miss something? ToS gives culture (nice, but in already holy city), but loses hammers (comparing to just settling), and potential income in 3CC AW is probably smaller than straight +5?)

I also think that a shrine is a mistake in 3CC

Agree with the jungle city, good luck dealing with obstructing units

Axe promoted to Combat I, killed Holkan. Bruce Lee promoted to Shock, killed Mayan Axe that tried to reinforce said Holkan - and now has 11XP, needed if we research tech for Heroic Epic smile)
Next turn city3 will be founded, and we'll se what will be it's impact on our income! Probably negative for now, will have to send more workers there to create Gems Mine and a Cottage ASAP. I consider creating 6th worker - all cities (and some strategic locations) need worker attention...

I'm all for another Worker, but did you see Mongolia's power? We really need that scout near their land, and more military

Also, why is Shanghai working a mine over farmed food resources? Maybe you mentioned it but I missed it, sorry if so. Looking at the demos, I'm happy with MFG and not concerned about GNP, but low CY looks bad

Edit: also not sure if you noticed, but a barb city spawned NW of Beijing, attacking it for the capture gold could be worth considering

I did, and next 2 Spears will go scouting (I wanted to send Chariot or two at first, but a Sear has more chance of actually returning from said mission).

I don't plan to whip Shanghai any time soon and 1 food was enough for gaining 5th pop point withut delay, so working mine was exchanging 3 food for 2 hammers. It was 1 turn only (now there will be Science Specialists).

Oo, I ddn't and You're right - it can be a nice prize! I'll look at what I can send there ASAp (some Chariots, most probably).

Mongols were faster - barbarian city is already destroyed, I see ruins with 2 damaged (and promoted) Mongol Axemen inside.

I threaten (almost by accident, it was on the way to barbarian city) Celtic worker with my Chariot wink. This time there is a Spearman nearby, though!
I consider entering Celtic territory with Axe and Chariot (covered by 2 other Chariots) - it may allow me to plunder their Pigs (currently defended by Spear). They'll have a few turns to react, though, and it'll hold most of my mobile forces for a few turns. Currently I think it's serious risk for little possible gain, but I'll think about it some more wink . I'll strike at Mongol Axes if they allow me, though (doubtful).

Math in 3 turns (and all money).

What I want ASAP is Currency, not Mathematics - and my beaker output will be much higher with Academy in Beijing (due in 5 turns). And I'll have to stockpile gold for awhile to run for Currency anyway. So I dropped research to 0% until GSci is born (and I have money to support Currency run).

Celts moved their Worker away, while a Chariot came probing in. I took my Chariot out of striking (and vision) range, moved Bruce Lee to support, will attack if they come any closer.
Mongol Axes disappeared in the fog. Task force consisting of Axe, Spear and 2 Chariots is moving in as reconaissance-in-force to Mongol territory - moving through woods. I hope to gain visibility on a Mongol city (capital?) in 2 turns.
Mayans moved Worker escorted by Holkan to their Gold. I don't have any handy Axe and can't threaten them with much else, so I'll let them be unmolested .

How far is the great scientist? If it's about half a dozen of turns or so, good decision. Maths can be delayed if we don't plan to chop many forests soon, and we do want early Currency for the ability to build Wealth
