Oh, and I was planning on posting this over at CFC. Any objections?

One thing may I ask: would it be possible to make it go faster a bit? no need to lower turn lenght, it would be enough if everyone would just end their turn as soon as possible. Not naming players here who have the habit not ending their turn.. just please
I want to second this thought. Too many turns where everyone but 1-2 teams play in the first 12 hours, and then it still takes another 36 hours for the turn to roll. At that pace, this game may take two years.
At least while the world remains relatively peaceful, we should be able to knock these turns out in 24 hours.

One problem is, if a team is only logging in once every 2 days, they're probably not checking the thread in CFC much either.
It's not like we're voting on anything. At worst all this does is nothing. At best the German team realizes this is bothering people and starts ending the turn when they're actually done.

Hold off. Someone posted about this a few days ago, though not in this thread, with noone picking it up, and now it's a bit late to second this. Also, I think we should pick a single official spokesman in LP's absence for what we send to CFC, and make sure that what is said there by him or her holds for all of us at Team RB.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width
I don't think it's too late. As was noted earlier, people don't pay much attention so I don't think we have a strict window to respond in here. Secondly, we're not posting "You must speed up now!", it's just a friendly comment that we'd appreciate it as well if teams always ended the turn when done with their turn when possible. IMO it's a positive even if nothing changes simply because it will encourage teams to be more decent to each other when the urge to double move and other shady practices are tempting later in the game.
If we treat it like a gentlemen's game other people might as well later on when it matters.

I agree.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
Alright I'm back. I don't see a problem with +1'ing the comment about being timely. I'm not too concerned about who posts it as long as it doesn't come across as mean, but if you'd rather it be just one voice for all things I can pop over there and do it myself.
