[SPOILERS]The 3 Muscateers playing Ragnar of Rome!

t125 mini update

The good news:
- Communism due in 3t, set to launch another GA and revolt into State Property
- Demos are great and I'm still #1 in power by far

The bad news:
- I got careless and let Azza deliver a very nice blow to my troops with a stack of knights, delaying my offensive for at least one turn and taking out 11 units at a cost of 2 knights
- Superjm made peace with Sareln, so me and Azza are now the only players at war
- Superjm has started training riflemen as well, he's definitely my main rival

My last exam is on Friday, I will post a proper report by then at the latest. If I manage to take another city before then I'll make sure to report on it too. Overall, I feel my game has been slipping a bit last week or two. I definitely got too confident about my offensive against Azza, and underestimated what he could do with his knights.

Sad to report that I don't expect to capture more cities from Azza. He has defended admirably, and I have bungled the invasion a bit. I underestimated his knights as mentioned earlier, and I left too small stacks sitting in reach of them. Had I consolidated them more and gone a little slower he wouldn't have been able to do much damage. I don't think I can advance further without compromising my overall standing in the game. The good news is that he has whipped his economy in the ground in order to do so, and he's focusing heavily on hammer output everywhere. He won't be able to invade me unless I screw up completely, and I don't think he has much chance of keeping up economically. He's now behind both waterbat and Superjm in crop yield and GNP.

Sending him a peace offer, chances are he's gone into grudge mode and will do anything he can to hurt me. I imagine he'll probably demand F for peace, I won't agree to that. If he wants cash I might be willing to offer a little. Keeping war weariness would be annoying, but I have that under pretty good control most places now. I'm so out of shape with playing that I forgot to draft 3 rifles this turn frown

The other good news is that I aced my oral exam yesterday and got top grade smile Spent a lot of time preparing for it, not something I usually do.

That's rough about taking such heavy losses. Do you have any screen shots of what happened? It's easy to say in hindsight but splitting up your stack is usually not a good idea, which you've obviously found here. If your military power is spent in Azzastan getting peace and regrouping is a good idea. Consolidate/integrate your gains, prepare for the next round whoever it is against.

Ok, I seem to have played the turn after you lost all of your catapults. I've changed all of your infra builds to new catapults, and am researching steel, so we can have some cannons which are less easily killed by flanking. We won the communism spy so GA and state property next turn. Superjm is researching astronomy so we'll have to go there after steel to maintain a good naval presence. Although this will kill our commerce, it'll definitely help with the Azza war and you seem to have gotten far enough ahead that a drop off in research rate shouldn't be overly important.

How the hell did you build a lead with only 11 workers and 24 citieslol

Slow's advice since PBEM29: we need more workers! Ha, I didn't realize there were so few. I'll have to open a save soon so I can give meaningful feedback but if we've lost our siege it sounds like you're calling the right play here. I'll stay tuned.

Extended NAP with superjm until turn 150. He was researching Astro and could have been a bit of annoying to our island locations. Well have to deal with him eventually but one war at a time, eh.

So you continued the war with Azza? Or I guess he probably declined the peace offer Catwalk sent a while back. I haven't opened a save since November, but what's the goal against him now? Press an attack or just fend him off? It's too bad we have to NAP Superjm, last I knew he was the primary rival at this point and was working on eating someone else's territory. Is that still happening?

Azza sent a peace offer this turn, but it was us, who have significantly stronger military gifting him a city. I refused. The goal is to kill him with fire. Unfortunately, Azza killed most of the siege with knights, so the conflict has stalled somewhat while I build and ship cannons over to the frontlines. I'm going to launch a big stack of cannons and rifles down through his core cities (he's still two techs from grenadiers). That'll concentrate his forces down the centre, while that's going on I'll divert some troops to galleons and take his lightly defended island cities with galleons.

Techpath reads Steel->Astro->Physics/Democracy.

Steel for better siege, astro to get galleons and then physics to get airships (the great sci would be nice as well).
Airships are awesome, it's very hard to defend when people can see all over your land.
Democracy because we are currently in a GA in order to revolt to state and revolting to emancipation may be necessary protection to happiness issues (Catwalk's drafted the hell out of his empire). However, I'll see how close everybody is to democracy before I go there, because slavery is still very useful.

Slavery is still useful because the majority of Catwalks cities are rather production weak, and he doesn't have the workforce (11 workers) to switch over to more production tiles at any sort of rate of knots. This is also the downside of getting railroad for better troop movement and MG's. I'd need to build the bloody railroads. I'll have a look to see how many towns hes got next turn (he's mostly been working colossus coast), it may be viable to go US, emancipation and have Kremlin powered cash rushing make up the deficit production. We were first to communism, just need to build the thing.

Slowcheetah, I assume you received the PM'ed NAP proposal Waterbat sent to us, along with my reply. For anyone still lurking apparently we had a NAP with Waterbat, it expired, and he wants to renew it for a while longer. I told him that I'd defer to whatever Slow wants to do since he's the emperor now. I'm going to guess that since you want to murder Azza, having a protected flank would continue to be convenient, ergo the NAP proposal is likely to be accepted.

Yeah I've replied with acceptance. We got steel last turn and now have 15 cannons, it's going to take several turns for them to move to the front though. In the meantime astronomy will come in, I thought I'd whip out some galleons nd go and steal Azza's island holdings.
