I'm moving the three workers in range onto the forest 2W1N of WT. With the scratch-whip this turn and a chop next turn, we can go Axe-Axe-WC in WT over the next three turns.

Are you okay with leaving 3WC, 2warriors and the Axe as LL's garrison? I don't think Mackoti's seen more than 3WCs, so I'd like to put the other 2WCs 1SW of LL along with 2 workers, just to give Mackoti more room to screw up.

OK, I played and sent it on.

I realized we should just 2-whip an axe in Cupid as well, and use the two workers there to chop out the spearman next turn.

Why are all of your cities named after archers yet you have no archery units?

Sorry I wasn't able to give feedback last night I just never had a chance to check the forums after my first post. Here's hoping though that after this round of unit building we don't need to do a bunch more. For this early in the game it's just really painful obviously (and mackoti must know that if this initial attempt at the city doesn't work it's not worth it to him to keep building tons of units either). Is it your plan that after this round of axes we for the most part to back to workers/settlers? Four axes and the WCs shield he enough I think to realistically hold for a long while (likely unyil catapults I'd guess).

Random scary thought: that's still mackoti's most recent city correct? If he goes for a religion now it would likely get founded there. He already has mysticism obviously so that's not entirely out of the question for him to do.

@FFP, our archers are seated in War Chariots. smile

@Shoot:
Yeah I hope we can go back to peaceful expansion after this. Somebody has a 20-food lead on the rest, that's probably Serdoa based on traits and score. As long as we're not outclassed by our immediate neighbours things aren't looking too bad. Plus the fact that everybody has a huge backyard means expansion might be less urgent - we've already done our aggressive settling. I suppose we risk losing out on the island(s).

I wouldn't worry about a religion in Mackoti's city, city age is not a factor I think, it's just non-capitalness and city size IIRC. Anyway I doubt he'll prioritize a religion right now since Gaspar already grabbed Hinduism and he has Stonehenge.

Yeah but I would also have doubted that he would have put this much effort into military so early as well. That being said I guess it's probably not a terribly huge deal as beating out someone's first ring borders is still extremely difficult. All we'd have to do is put in a little effort to get our third ring out and we'd be pretty much guaranteed to keep our first ring.

The thing about his military is he had been using extremely small, hammer-oriented cities, and then probably just finished granaries and was ready to grow, so maybe he just built military while growing his cities to their current sizes. Remains to be seen how many forests were chopped though...

Thanks. It looks like it did work; at any rate Mackoti didn't attack. Unfortunately, he didn't retreat but upped the ante instead by adding more units. That made this turn pretty straightforward - just continue all planned military builds and cross all fingers and toes.

In addition he has a spear, axe, chariot and wounded Combat I chariot in Pastrama. I guess he's been killing someone else's scout then.

Still, we're the new #1 in power after ending turn.

Oh, and I made damn sure not to fortify our axe in Lucky Luke. lol
