been a few turns.
COMMODORE got CoL, which is odd, since he's sumeria and already gets his courts. I guess he wants to be able to run caste.
Also, got dazed's demos.. he's NOT spiking power - in fact, he's weaker than I am.
So, not sure who's spiking. still, goign to make me some spears - just also need me some axes, too.

I haven't been updating much - most of my reporting time has gone to PB9.
dazed showed up with a warchariot, which I assume is scouting. But I did whip in a spear, just in case. I'm adding another one in another city. I'll have writing soon, so I can start in on CoL (Rathaus!!). I'm working on a monastery, for missionaries and expansion.
Debating making a play for pyramids with the stone on the little island, though that's 2 settlers and a galley away, to say nothing of sailing. The trade routes are useful, though.

Dazed didn't just go away, he's exploring my borders, so that's a pain...

State of commitment, turn 51:
I missed doing a turn 50 overview, but will do a turn 51.
Demos:
Middle of the road - behind in GNP (not surprising with fin civs), doing ok on prod and food. Behind in soldiers - but the differnet is a couple of axes, which isn't a large threat. Chariots are a threat, cause of speed, but I have spears.
Victory conditions:
Top in both pop and land, so that's good - mainly from 1 more city than anyone else.
Top cities:
Tech tree:
Sailing next - next 2 cities go on the coast and will want galleys (stone island) and lighthouses. Anyone know if the Great Lighthouse trade rout bonus applies to cities not on salt water? then masonry and CoL.
My expenses are high:
Builds:
Note multiple libraries - I want to run a bunch of scientists to help me ge tto CoL quickly.
McLean will pop out a bunch of missionaries once it's monastery finishes, to get culture... but mainly to get more happy.
Cities:
Cap is still on settler/worker duty. We are beginning to grow into cottages here. Need more happy - fortunately, we have 2 coming (fur and religion)
mcLean:
Will make a few missionaries and a couple of settlers - one for the coast, the next for the island.
Danvers:
Will pop it's borders in a few, getting us fur. will grow until it can whip it's library.
Building a lib to pop borders. Will run scientists, but also build military.
Need to get IW at some point to get those gems. Might be worth just doing it - the gems pay back IW pretty quickly.

I haven't been reporting this very well - I hope to fix that.
In todays' save, I found 3 things that illustrate why I'm not a top player on RB
I've been proud of myself for my expansion and have been thinking about building pyramids.
So, they got built this turn, so I'm not building them:
Who built 'em?
oh - commodore. he has a bunch of wonders, doesn't he? bet he's underexpanded.
oh.
clearly, he focused much more heavily on workers and chopping. he sunk a LOT of hammers into wonders (unless he settled right next to marble and got the stone online)

Ahh - rathauses - you are wonderful. I have 7 cities - I pop in just 4 rathouses and my expenses are cut in half
started on the great lighthouse and am teching math. Hopefully, everyone else is ignoring the lighthouse. We'll see what happens there. It's not uber strong, but there are islands, so it's reasonably strong and well worth the hammers for an organized civ (cheap harbors)

sorry I haven't been updating.
Fintourist wants to know about the state of the empire:
Simply put, expanding. I have 9 cities and i have a couple more settlers going (that screenie says 3, but that's after reopening the last save - I htink i actually have 2)
I'm probably going to expand SE right now - but I think I'm going to get another 10 cities or so out of the land available. I have to be careful about dazed - he's the #1 power right now.
I'm building the lighthouse. that's not a great wonder on this map, but it's still damn useful. It'll help 4 cities right now, with more to come.
teching to calendar. I'm missing archery and poly and I have CoL. I may go currency->calendar, though, since it's probably faster.

So, I'll put up some pics a little later.
My focus has been on expansion and I'm up to 14 or 15 cities, with more on the way - something 3 or 4 more than anyone else. Everything gets a granary and a rathaus and then I figure out what's next.
I'm running about 50% science. Plan is to expand until there's no room and then whip in an army and go kill people. I'm thinking 20-40 HA will be useful...
