There's 4 crossbows that were picked up last turn, so add 4 more to the total.
Ichabod thankfully is attacking ruff, so we don't have to worry about being tag-teamed
He picked up feudalism, too. And scooter picked up Education.
I think we start galleys in every city not near scooter's galleons: SR, HC, NHL, RSS, SBT, HCL. Scooter seems to be sending his units towards NHL, which already has a good garrison. We 1-turn Optics this turn and swap some of them to caravels next turn. Or maybe we just take Astronomy with Liberalism next turn -- depends how long it will take us to get there with 1 bulb. I'm guessing 3 turns, and I don't know if I want to wait 3 turns. Depends on what scooter does.
Swap to some caravels next turn - and then whip them / overflow back to our galleys in time for them to upgrade in build to galleons.
I'll be on later today. Will need to think about defense.

I've thought it over. We need to Lib Astronomy and then tech Gunpowder. This pillaging is fucking annoying and we need both techs to stop it immediately. Forget MilTrad, who cares.

Yeah, i'm inclined to agree. We need gunpowder to take out the xbows and astronomy to take on his galleons, and we needed both 3t ago.
MilTrad has been off the table since scooter attacked - our next likely attack window is drafted rifles. And i think we want to use those on rego or ruff now.
So follow up question: if we plan on using Lib on Astronomy, then would we want to use the Great Scientists to double bulb Sci Meth? Because if that is the plan, then i think it would be better to double bulb Astronomy next turn and use Lib to take Scientific Method. That would let us start galleys this turn and whip galleons next turn, a turn earlier than if we use liberalism to grab astronomy. It would feel wasteful as hell, but it's exactly the same as using lib on astronomy and double bulbing Sci Meth.

I was thinking we'd use one on SM and then the other for a GA. Get Economics for the GM for the other GP (rego might beat us though since he remains unharassed...). Draft a bunch of muskets and then get out of Nationalism for a while.

Bulbing or Liberalizing Astronomy mid-turn does not turn in-queue galleys into galleons. That check only happens at end of turn. So we could either whip the galleys and have them upgrade at end of turn, or start the galleons on the same turn as getting Astronomy.

Ah, that's a good point to know.
Ok, let's do the following then:
This turn-
Start galleys in every city we can. I'm hoping for 6 or more
Cities under direct attack (IIT, HT, RUO, CO) should focus on land units still.
1-turn Optics at 90%
T+1
Finish Liberalism and take Astronomy
T+2
Start Gunpowder
Whip galleons
T+3
Position ourselves to push back scooter
We could try to offer peace to scooter the turn we grab Astronomy. Or maybe the turn is better, after when we whip our galleons. He isn't whipping, so he gets to keep his galleons if he accepts. And we'll want our galleons anyway, so may as well wait until we whip a ton of them in and have a bit of leverage for demanding peace.

Well the timetable there is a bit off. We finish Liberalism T+1, but we don't get Astronomy until T+2. That means we can't whip the galleons on T+2, we'd be whipping galleys (we may be able to have enough hammers to have them still complete as galleons in some cities). And several cities can build galleys in 2t, so they would complete T+1 when we finish Liberalism.

Guess it's time to get into details. I'll be home soon to look at the game. Need to see if those galleys stay a 2-turn build even when we drop out of the golden age at end of turn.
