Technology Trading: Off

Further bans (corps, nukes etc) by consensus.
To be honest - while I hope to play competitively, I'm not too concerned about game settings so long as the settings/bans are clear.
Thanks for setting this up!
Welcome suttree!
I'll update the front page with our Teams and current tentative consensus-based settings either tonight or tomorrow. Ultimately we'll want a final settings vote put to Team threads when we have enough interest (moving this thread into the PitBoss forum (with admin blessing)), I guess that's the way it's done.
Also building the PitBoss VM as we speak. I know I posted it awhile back but I haven't hosted a PB before, thus the not-so-soon start date. Will want to get a few of you to jump in and thrash it for testing reloads, performance etc in a week or so.
Did we want to talk reload policy too? I'm *strongly* in favour of reloads only for technical issues. What we talked about earlier regarding honour, chivalry, abs of steel (oh wait, that's Chuck Norris scratch that) - regarding "don't be a dick" for double moves I think is the best way to handle double moves. It will probably happen by mistake, more than once or twice. I'd expect that lurkers would point that out without too much trouble, and we'd hope it doesn't happen again. Misclicks are definitely out I would say.

I can also roll/edit a map, and roll/normalize combos (posted for lurkers to dissect of course) if needed.
I can't commit to hand drawing a map.
Exp isn't that much better the creative.
@Kuro we're doing the random thing with PB9, and I wouldnt say there's that big a difference in combos, certainly not considering the variation in land quality overcomes.
Basically, do random map+land or drawn map+snake pick - you either want the randomness or not, so there's no point in going halfway with it.

Hm. Well, if you say that there isn't too much of a difference in combos, that's good. Makes it more appealing.

I mean there is a difference, but when you shave the top and bottom 4 (?) off then there isn't MUCH difference, and the difference in land means I wouldn't say any one player had any unfair advantage - I'm sure there's difference but it still comes back down to how its played.

I'd quite like to pick my civ for once. I don't really want to draw the Romans again, for example.

Also, barbs/huts/events on if we're going a random-ish map, but I feel like it'd be a better learning experience to have a near-mirrored map. It'd give people a chance to compare post-game about the different decisions made, what worked, what didn't, and why. On a random map, it's practically impossible to compare since everyone comes from different starts where certain strategies may not have made sense..

This is a good point.

Mirrored starts are just so boring, it just becomes a game of who can micro the best...
Maybe something similar to the PB4 map which had a lot of interesting land and chokepoints, but had mirrored capitals and similar luxuries available to everyone.

PB in general is all about who can micro the best. There's so much time to make your moves.

I'd be fine with something PB4-esque.
EDIT: Also, looking at PB9 more, I'd be fine with randomized stuff more I think, even if I'll still vote for snake.
