Ignoring the drama, just a note that killing a HE unit doesn't prevent someone from building the HE (all it requires is a unit of yours to have taken a third promotion at some point.)

City 16. Offered to buy furs from mackoti for 5 gpt. Will he have mercy on our poor souls, I wonder..?

Also, seems like Grimace is our new pope:

I have only 1 city with the religion, in one of my biggest hammer cities; might as well build the temple and monastery I guess, at least after I pump out a few more cats.

I logged in... Haram decided it was finally time for his revenge, and declared war. First thought: awww hell yes, finally done with this stupid game.

Its funny; my border with Haram is actually extremely small; only that one little chokepoint that I sweated so hard to secure a hundred turns ago. I've been keeping an eye on Haram's power for a long time, seeing it steadily grow to about double mine, but I figured that gambling my way back to contention, hoping that the impending threat of runaway Mackoti would cow Parkin and Haram long enough (and Seven being busy with HAK) to climb back up to relevancy. Thus, the last 40-50 turns have just been a big farmer's gambit to try to desperately catch back up to the leaders. And, I almost did; this turn, before my whipping spree started, I was up to 17 cities (no Maygar yet! It still hasn't hit size 2!!!), 4th GNP (100% science in a GA), and 4th in food. Had I been able to finish out my GA peacefully, I'd have longbows, have a very respectable Bureau cap, have a super sick Moai. Perhaps even be strong enough to be considered a contender... for 5th place. rolf

Second thought: unfortunately, I don't think he's brought enough to finish me off. I think he'll capture a city, burn a few others, and then try to get peace. Lets see the situation:

His main stack is pretty hearty. Can't defend here, so I moved my units back to where I have some cat support. Whipped this city down to size 2. He'll want to keep this one; hopefully all my infrastructure blows up.

His eastern flank, whose purpose seems to be to threaten my eastern, more preteenish sphere and force me to fork my main defense I guess. Had to whip down to size 2 here as well. The fucker moved through Seven's territory to do this; hopefully that means Seven's fine with my impending demise and will try to dogpile in, perhaps oversea from the north or even in parallel with Haram's forces. This city, he'll raze.

His western flank, whose purpose seems to flank me further; unfortunately, he only brought 3 keshiks here, which will be wasted. Had he brought 2-3 more, he could have taken out one of my biggest production centers. (other than my capital and my Moai, which I'll let complete this turn, as a Moai in a GA will be pretty productive). As it stands, my cat was able to withdraw from his keshiks, and my spear+axe will be able to hold the zone until I'm able to pump out a few more defenders.

So, I'll just keep whipping myself down here. Feudalism in 3 turns instead of Bureau now, but, with luck, my other 3 neighbors will dogpile me out before I can get too many longbows out.

Should be fun!

Well, I pushed back a little bit. My excellent combat luck this game (against animals not withstanding) continues though, and I lost a couples spearmen vs keshik battles at 90% odds. Next turn, I'll have to retreat whatever's left there back up to my capital.

Interestingly, Haram did not raze eagerday, but then did not keep it garrisoned either. Is that supposed to be a gift to Seven for letting him rampage through his borders? Why the hell else would you not burn down this city? I'm going to try to sneak a chariot around back and raze it, at any rate.

In the west, Haram retreated his Keshiks there into Parkin's borders; forgot to screenshot this though. I had to sacrifice another city, that little filler. Ah well.

Incidentally, just in case I don't get another chance, Moai in a golden age: twirl

T135, I pick off a few more of Haram's units. He is really sloppy with these things; the only units I've actually lost in this war are the units I've lost in at-odds battles like this Spearman vs Keshik nonsense.
