[Spoilers PB27] REM tries to get a handle on this mod

Haha. However I really like these. I get a net 10ish commerce per cheap settler plonked on these and gain much needed vision across the sea. Most others would lose money on these I think.

1 thing that rifles will give me is very good security against plako. I'll upgrade the gg unit there the first turn possible and try to have a small float in the treasury. Then especially as he cannot 1 turn with anything except knights without giving me warning he will have to really use some force being almost an entire era behind (no muskets yet!)

Link please. I've already linked Brick settling on deer somewhere recently. The thing I remember from PB18 was uranium/aluminum and the occasional floodplain fish (!).

Haha are you still rooting for me?

After taotao failing to pressure me and instead going after Inca and creating a precarious border with England who he has pissed off previously, his military strength rapidly obsoleting and my quite nice demo lead I feel the balance of probabilities is tipping in my favour for me to pull this off here. He is really the only one who can do anything to me for the forseeable future.

I feel this is mainly thanks to CH launching that impromtu attack and razing that city 30ish turns ago smile

Here's an interesting couple of points. Gav is holding OB from me. Probably wisely as it is preventing the circumnavigation... He has a nav1 caravel coming to me. If he denies me OB again do I kill it? If he presses on I will have a caravel and a galleon in range wherever he goes. I could also use my knight on a old HAK city which I have a 75% chance on currently.

But do I risk gaining an enemy? I probably will be public enemy no1 before too long anyway...

(Rules note. If it pops up saying keep/raze/return to HAK is that allowed? Technically not a trade and the rules are only city trades disabled by mod and any trade is face value... What do lurkers think?)

I need to guesstimate how likely he is to circumnavigate before me before I attack, but I feel this is a reasonable use of the offer (if he had troops near I would just raze anyway)

Taotao is moving a settler through me... Soon I'll have need of a lot more routes. Do I shut him out? I don't know if it hurts him or me more. Not for a couple of turns will I decide anyway. Maybe some privateers could deter him...

Finally England declared on inca. Happy to see them get stuff that would go to Dutch. Even more happy to make a more volatile border down there!

I thought he was referring to the one tile forest deer islands, not the barb paratrooper island.

I'd say no city trades for any reason, regardless of mechanical ability to enact the trade.

Regarding liberating cities, IMO it's a loophole and against the spirit of the rules for this game, so not allowed.

I thought so, probably won't even declare but just a thought in case it comes up later.

RIFLES! I HAVE RIFLES! hammer Looks weird with the armoured GG sprite though.

Upgraded the GG units and I want taotao/DZ to see to keep them in check somewhat. Do not want any silly attacks as they will be annoying. I had a couple more autoupgraded units complete.

My northern island also became a lot more... Interesting. That's a chariot and 2 knight/settler pairs there. nono That first one will not be able to settle with my new city but the other will make this a contested place. Very cheeky. Bit uncalled for. Moving a settler through me. EVEN MORE CHEEKY! nono I don't want a war currently as although my island forces are superior currently and he is at war in the south, He has a lot of knights to bring into play and I cannot match him at sea. We shall bide our time, there is a lot of land still to settle above plako for example. Plus I like Brick Island number 2 of mine to go down. Perhaps not the smartest use of the settler but meh, I don't have enough covering units on the island if it gets lery otherwise. Plako northern island I will be landing on next turn, and I have quite a few settlers floating around. Indeed my IMP trait is working nicely in Yargoslavl, where the high hammer output low food output is being used hugely efficiently. That is indeed a 1 hammer off a full settler outcome frown this will pump them until just before it will starve down a size, when I will give it the caps corn.

In navigation news - I think I will have circumnavigated in 2 turns. I am 95% sure it hasn't gone yet, not quite sure why it hasn't gone. crazyeye If it has I haven't noticed, but I did check through the logs. I will get the y wrap definitely, and Gavagi finally opened borders to allow the knight to race through. I need about 9 more tiles uncovered in the x wrap.

Plako is retreating which is nice...

Probably because of borsches counter on Yuri which in 1 turn was much better than Yuris attempt! He had about 25 knights so probably smashed his way in. Didn't think he had it in him and was just playing the turns, but I suppose in pb29 he stayed abreast of the situation well for quite a while.

The empty grassland tile is the one city, unsure of the second. If plako joins in Yuri will definitely crumble. Might make a sweep around a little harder, but I may also think about coming in on yuris side. Probably won't, but borsche is my natural next target, and this is a good oppertunity. I don't quite have the spare forces currently though.

Fenn has 2 cities left, one fortress and one will fall this turn. Unsure who will get this or when it will go. Taotao got ollytambo last turn, he should probably wait for his seige else he will loose a lot of units for a couple of turns. Really hope DZ and taotao turn on each other...

Tech is the most interesting thought here. Genuinely unsure where to go. Should have realised that I will need constitution for corporation so cannot go there. Taotao is pushing for steel for... I guess the drydocks and maybe the cannons. Certainly not railroad any time soon. Annoyingly this will advance us to the industrial era and increase the KTB to 8% rather than 6%. Almost worth doing for that TBF. I played around with tech, and I have no overflow and can tech steel in 3 turns at breakeven, whereas he is taking 4 at full tech (well no cash generated) so I am a lot faster than him.

Do I follow him and try to match him? We are entering an era where a lot of boats will be needed and the drydocks are hugely efficient at building them plus they give a raw +4 hammers on this anyway. Also I have the health to spare to build them everywhere. However I have the cossacks calling, as well as the SoL and the Sci Method free GP. Plus SP levees. In then end I decided to currently save on Literature, but I cannot decide where to next. All are enticing. Physics is perhaps a bit out as it is 120000 beakers! But communism is only 70k and the spy... Or biology for the extra food. Everything is really tempting now, but I think I should play it simple and stick to cossacks. I should be able to match other players and anticipate to snag first to bonuses, and stay ahead. jive I'm ok with loosing the physics scientist, but I really want the communism spy, and the SoL. Whilst getting cossacks ASAP. And leeves. And drydocks. And Railroad... lol

Just checked the Civilopaedia... Feck. Dikes although they forgo river bonuses are only 120 not 180 hammers and give bonus commerce. Dunno whether that is weak or strong now. Probably given taotaos empire composition stronger.

Victories - checking noone is trying to culture.
Demos - Don't get this. Not first in land area but I have over half a percent more than dtay according to victory screen? Odd. Soliders picking up nicely. In first for everything despite dtays GA. jive Like I missed a trick not racing to banking for emancipation early IMO dtay/Gavagi have been wrong not to rush to liberalism for merc and FR.

The victory screen always rounds the rival best down, so dtay's is actually something like 11.75% probably.

Good reports. smile
