PB37 Map and Lurker Thread [SPOILERS]

Missed that odd lake, wet rice is fine.

In this case just right-click the south-of-settler lake tile and you'll remove the extraneous river, no fuss, no muss.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

They certainly remind me more of Dtay and The Black Sword than NorthStar.  That said, pretty much anyone still playing Civ4 at this point has to be somewhat experienced, and they all claim to be long-time lurkers, so maybe it's just our expectations that need to be shifting.

Assumes facts not in evidence.  I can't find any sites at all I've made that have two foods with the same tech requirement, actually, except maybe the sheep-pigs both second ring three turns of movement away.

And certainly this choice won't gain him anything except jungled banana.  Would also cost him the oasis and make his strategics harder to grab and cost time.  I really hope he changes his mind and decides to believe the lurkers gave him what he asked for.  I mean, I could have made a mistake on this, but I'm certainly not the only person who looked.

I don't think the map is sparse so far, but it's definitely not as lush as Krill seems to be expecting.  And lushness level was definitely *not* something he specified in his map request.

I think it's pretty reasonable to expect that nowadays newbies will do well in early game micro/planning. It's usually in the mid-game that the sharckotis start eating the small fish. Early game openings is the easiest part of the game to get right, I think (I'm not talking about novice/Seven levels of right here, but respectably enough levels), even more so when this version of RBMod nerfs the usual go-to mid-game strategies.

About that, I don't see any veteran player with the killing instinct of a favorite here. Dtay and Krill seem a bit too distant to play that role (on that subject, I believe more in Dtay's distance than Krill's; i.e. I think Krill has more chance of ending up highly engaged if the game swings his way). Gavagai will certainly eat a newbie, not sure if he'll win the game. With all that said, my money would be on Joey, with perhaps a small bet on a dedicated newbie winning.

Not that I know anything about betting...
