I got to admit that was one of the hardest boards I've had. I saw it I just about resigned myself to the loss. I could see
maybe a couple 3 clues, but then I was left with words I didn't think I could even clue in pairs. Not having to deal with revolution was a blessing because I was thinking I was going to have to try to clue it with sock using boot, which felt very roulette-y.
Riding 3: Mount, Dress, Switch. I was pretty happy with this clue, I planned for centaur to be hit, but I thought this wasn't a bad start. No one got switch really tho until rho, rho you made me raise my arms in triumph you read it so right.
Next I wanted to get to pirate 3 at some point to try and get smuggler, sink and key, but Dave didn't clue boom off the bat and I knew we'd hit it so I had to think about something else.
Pitch 3: Key, Opera, Sink. I completely missed both Agent and Contract. Bob you missed one more meaning on your list of pitch definitions, a boat pitches in the sea, capsizes and sinks. But pitch is a great word with a lot of meanings. I had considered both the boat and the baseball elements for pitch so I thought sink would be clear, key you got, Opera no one mentioned, which made it crazy lucky when Dave clued Tchaikovsky.
so I'm left with smuggler and sock unclued, sink, switch and dress clued but not finished. I could not figure out how to clue smuggler and sock! Maybe valuables:2? I just couldn't be sure so I figures I'd have to clue them separately. Also of the clued words left it seemed like agent was one of the words you were very high on so I didn't want to go unlimited and make a mess.
Boat 2: Sink, Smuggler (dress). I hoped it would be clear here that by reclueing sink I would be cluing that the 3 pitch words were done and agent wasn't one of the words, leaving you to clue dress as your next lean. Rho mostly got it again. Boom really kept getting in the way. I ALMOST clued pirate over boat, but I felt that boom was still too strong a connection and that boat would be close enough while leaving boom out... little did I realize!
Beat 2: Sock, Switch. I chose to 2 clue rather than 1 clue sock because i wasn't sure if Bob still really liked agent or not and I could clue both. Surprised that JR never heard the meaning of sock: to sock = to punch, hit or beat.
GG DaveV! It was a very hard board.
I'm up for another.
I think Pin does want to play, but I'll let him chime in. Pin?
