But that's not the reason you are in a "dark place again", right?

Just the last few notes are really great. Really happy I saw this thread. The sweetness and vulnerability is refreshing.

Anyone have advice on teaching (in general, but especially given the pandemic)? I’m going to be TAing introductory honors physics this semester over zoom, and want to make a good impression, but online education makes that kind of difficult.

Is that for first year uni students ? It's slightly different from my high school teaching experience, but generally I think finding a balance between following what you've prepared and taking some time to answer questions/digressing is important. Better make the students understand 95% of the curriculum fine than 100% superficially. Particuarly when you can make it the most important 95%.
About the pandemic, are you going to be doing online classes only ?

Yeah, its 1st years, and everything is online as of 2 weeks ago. It was going to be hybrid at first, but then they changed their mind.

I don't know what kind of students you have at your university, and how invested first years usually are there. But keep in mind that most students want to learn the subjects you're teaching, which means that the first step is to show them early on that they can definitely learn stuff in your class (ie that you explain stuff clearly, and make your subject as understandable as you can).
As for online classes... It depends on the time you want to invest in doing specific stuff. Last year, because I knew my students, I managed to find a rythm that worked ok and didn't give me unsurmountable amounts of work. But you might need to buy a good webcam and a board to put behind you to write stuff there when it's necessary if you're going to do the whole thing online without a good support (a book that covers the subject and that's available for all students, or a good website you can point at when needed)
