Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[PB90] naufragar's Ottomen don't have a leg to stand on.

I love the double metal play! Seems like a really great way to use IMP for the snowball on Deity. Will you go for early Metal Casting with two metals, or just play as-per with an extra luxury?

Edit: Also, how do you rate the hammams for this game?

Honestly, I'm not sure yet. I was expecting to be absolutely broke by this point. Memories of Montezuma in PB90 are still fresh. But that game was Deity/Huge and with no river or commerce tiles. This map is Small, which I'm still getting used to. Writing is due in 4 turns and then I'll reevaluate. I still want an Academy ASAP. I think I'll actually be researching well enough to not need 2 Great Scientists before Currency, but that remains to be seen. Tech still feels ok.

To be honest, I hadn't even thought about them. I'm allergic to aqueducts. mischief So far, I haven't seen many city sites that can justify spending hammers on happiness; there just aren't many good tiles, and I might as well put the hammers into settlers and keep happy caps low. The hammam is like a better Colosseum, and I did build a couple of those in my Monte game, but that was only after I had run out of room. noidea

If I can survive long enough to have big cities, they'll be excellent. Let's see if I can survive until then. Every day I go with just a single warrior garrison a galley ride away from my Western neighbor makes me itch. Current calculation is that it's too expensive to whip a metal unit for an attack from an unmet neighbor from the fog, but that did happen to me as recently as PB62, so I'm a little gun-shy.

I AM VERY ITCHY.

As expected, our western neighbor is Miguelito of the Inca. He offered Open Borders, and this we have offered back. If he has units on that galley, I'm pretty screwed anyway. The sneakiest thing he could do is disconnect my copper, but I can try to hinder that plan a little. Hopefully, he and I can be friends. Commerce is the lifeblood of nations, after all. hippy

Miguelito and his dedlurker Rusten are outstanding Civ players. They both plan well and fight well. Huayna Capac is Industrious and (un-nerfed, absolutely broken Vanilla) Financial. Oh, and they get super monuments for free. Ohdear We want this team to be thinking nice, happy thoughts about our poor little Turks.

That might be complicated by my preexisting reputation. I ran the numbers recently and apparently I've declared ancient era war in every game that I could.  shhh I don't think of myself as a bloodthirsty lunatic, but Rusten at least does. Let it be known: I am currently going to Pacifism rehab and would never ever declare war on anyone.  innocent I can only hope that Miguelito shares similar beliefs. I'll get some units in some cities, but if that galley is loaded it's too late. I suspect Miguelito is content to bide his time. Ohdear

On the domestic front, we're doing okay. Libraries go up soon, and a couple of cities get monuments for early warning systems eventually. Then we start the next wave of expansion.

Been a while. Have an overview shot:

Truth be told, I shouldn't have signed up for two games. I signed up for PB64 when this was in its earliest stages and I was just sitting on the island. Now PB64 is getting the lion's share of my attention, and I can't even remember what I'm doing in PB90 without signs.

I'm 8 turns away from a capital academy. I should have more cities. All my neighbors do. Oh well. Sorry, this game got put on the back burner.

Yes. cry Even the Montezumas and Qin Shi Huangs of the world have more than me. That cap probably builds one more soon and sends it down south where there's a coastal fish.
