New Civ4 Pitboss - season 8 AI championship map

Just need 2 more.

Finally got some time to work on this. Mostly simple changes. Squares don't lend themselves to balancing 6 players, but I mainly just tried to move things more towards the center. Everyone got a gold vs being contested. Gave everyone an early ivory. Instead of having beavers or silks or spices at end everyone got beavers on an island.

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

I do think I have the time for another game.
Time to report it is unclear on the other hand.

Just need 1 more!

I would like someone else to take a look at the map. I probably will again before starts, but more eyes and all that. Again, players included. You can't complain about the map this time! I'll get a voting spreadsheet going tomorrow maybe. But if we want to do king of the hill would like someone else with experience to freeze the defending barb units. I also don't know if it will mess with the game if we take out the observer civ, but we could just set it to AI so we don't have to worry about messing with taking it out. The other option is make it a dedicated lurker civ /shrug.

I haven't looked at the map, but some concerns regarding a fully known in advance map: Knowing the exact location of opponents and early strategics can facilitate very early rushes. Either going AnimalHusbandry first to send out an early harassing chariot, or going BronzeWorking into Wheel to set up for chopping/whipping out an assault wave of chariots.

I think the map is big enough to dicourage this.
20 tiles from capital to capital ?

I also think its big enough to discourage, but to be safe I could switch the copper and horse locations. Right now the copper is in a pretty weak back location only fed by a crab, which is both weak food and requires building an early work boat. The horse on the other hand has a pig making it a pretty logical early city that is more forward and could be rushed albeit everyone else also has this option so it seems like a pretty big gamble. Also, because you know the map you can just keep your scout back looking for rushes (something I recommend doing anyways). That being said I thought about moving horse second ring, but someone could just pick creative to get around that. So swapping the horse and copper would probably fix the issue. Zulu could still do an impi rush, but because everyone has the option to settle a good copper city early that gets rid of the situation last time I rushed SD where he just didn't have good copper spot close by so he delayed it. Its also a much much longer distance and you have a guaranteed neighbor on both sides who can exploit.
