This United States-of-Israel invasion of Iran just peeled the clothes off the emperor. It exposed what some of us already knew: US overseas bases aren’t symbols of strength - they’re liabilities. Modern missile warfare turned them into easy targets.

In this new age, fixed bases aren’t assets. They’re sitting ducks. They can be hit before aircraft even take off, overwhelmed by missile salvos, and they can’t move, hide, or adapt. Their coordinates are public knowledge. They’re giant, predictable clusters of fuel, ammo, and personnel waiting to be struck. Middle East - are we sorry now for hosting USI bases?

1.5 trillion dollars military budget just to bully weaker states and impose suffering on hundreds of millions of people around the globe while our own infrastructures are crumbling and the homeless rules the street. Money well spent, some of you say. 

With states fielding long‑range precision missiles, drones, hypersonics, cruise missiles, and electronic warfare, the US bases doesn’t survive the opening phase of a Real Fight™.

I thought progressives would be happy to see a new government in Iran that wouldn't throw women in prison to be raped and tortured for not covering their hair enough, but I guess they have other priorities.

Last I heard, Iran stopped full enforcement of the modesty laws in recent years, ie. you can get into trouble if you make a fuss about it (public square, social media) otherwise it's not so dangerous, and morality police patrols are sparser. White countries should adopt the same norms as Iran, it would make us more civilised.

Trump has been pretty explicit that the goal of the operation is to destroy Iran as a regional power and install a friendly client government to make Israel's life easier and to control the oil and the Strait of Hormuz. The Shah being a western puppet rather than a real monarch is the goal. Any benefits to feminism in Iran that occur are secondary rather than being central to the mission - but strange nonetheless when those most likely to support them denounce them.

Compared to the Ukraine, Iran is twice the size, mountainous instead of flat, and three times the population. Obviously, less civilised and far worse infrastructure (although apparently 20 hours electricity per day pre-war).
Let's see how well they hold up, I am very disappointed that the first desalination plant destroyed was in Iran, not among its enemies.
