[SPOILERS] Lewwyn Battles

I will be keeping only one thread. Thus, all players are forbidden from this thread until the end of the tourny, or at least the Round Robin Round.

Fun Fact about Lewwyn:

I don't like this smilie: bow

Too much obsequiousness.

I'm battling Dazed. He's good. I'm having fun. I think I'm going to win.

I chose Shaka (AGG/EXP) of Native America

and Daze screwed that pick with Qin (PRO/IND) of Mali

During early game I explored north and east, so not directly at Dazed. As a result he ended up at my door before I reached his, and I never really got any sort of choke or threat on him. His warrior didn't do much and I got a Dog soldier out to protect my second city. using a newly completed road + city I was able to get directly under his warrior and force it north to the coast until it had no more room to run away. He then deleted it. So I got first blood, but not really... Look at the shot below to see what I mean.

This is about T36. I have most of the map revealed so I can give you guys an idea of the land. Now we've gone a bit farther than this, but these are the earliest shots I have. You can see the mirror is in the middle of that giant 18 FP patch. Also up top between the corn. The issue is that we're playing on Emperor difficulty. Teching is unbelievably slow. There are very few resources around. No happy no food. its okay though since its mirror and its giving me interesting gameplay.

At this point I have 2 cities and a settler going north I have the dog soldier I used to push the warrior into deletion fortified on a forest by a FP and across a river is a skirmisher also fortified. A few turns after this Dazed kills it with a chariot which is something i suspected would happen but didn't retreat fast enough.

Then his skirm came at me tried to choke and I killed it with chariot. then another skirm+the chariot choked around a bit, but he's currently moving away...

I'll take some screens of a more recent turn and give you a better idea of whats going on. Given the time that Dazed set up his thread, I'm betting he's covered about this much. But I'll reveal something in the next thread that is basically going to win me the game.

Hey, I don't make those maps, I just roll them off a script and make sure theres enough food around. But next round I'll make sure to change them all to plain desert just for you :neenernee

No, No. I'm sure we can work something out...

Okay back to the game.

So at about T36, I'm thinking to myself,
-"Self, what happens if Dazed builds the Oracle on a map that's taking us forever to tech on?"
-"Well Self, he fricken wins thats what freaking happens."
-"Self, can we beat him to the Oracle?"
-"We can damn sure try Self, we can damn sure try."

BEHOLD:

Yeah, I just built the Oracle while being semi-choked out from under a PRO/IND.

Basically as you saw in the previous screenie I teched meditiation first. I won Buddhism, Dazed got Hinduism. As I teched Priesthood I chopped out a worker in Poverty Point and whipped one in my cap. with 3 workers I put 3 chops in in the first 2-3 turns of the oracle. Then had a 4th chop go in and finished it in 7 turns working plains cows, grass horses, and a forested PH until I got the copper mined on the last turn. Dazed put his second city on the inland sea to get the crab more north. I went for the copper horse cow in one site. A terrible food poor city, but a production dream. 2t chariots and such. Also theres no point to trying to grow it. So I'll whip at pop 4>3 and slowly regrow to 4 where I'll whip it to 3 again. Basically just 2 turning spears, dogs and chariots.

BTW Spears are my best unit now. promote to cover and the spears have odds on both his chariots and skirmishers.

The war:

Really interesting stuff. A couple turns earlier I got a chariot in by the city and killed one of his chariots taht was covering a worker then deleted the worker and my chariot. smile Anyway here you can see I might be able to do that again and he has to cross rivers to get at my C2 chariot. I'm sure this will change rapidly.

Even better you see the Trireme. I took MC with Oracle. The Trireme is aweosme. Just awesome.

Cities:

Mound City will build the colossus.

Current plan:

Need IW to get gems which will be +2 happy with forges, better than HR. Plus Iron, swords and working gems for nice commerce boost. I will never reach that Silver. SO far away! cry

If you're curious about whats north of Mound City:

A whole lot of nothing.

Dazed just set me a turn! We'll probably blitz a bit now.

Dazed took a 50/50 shot on my chariot with his chariot on the forest and won. That hurts. I moved the chariot there to stop him from moving back towards me and sitting on the only forest left. I chopped all the others so he couldn't sit on em. He also covered the worker some more so I just moved all my unit forward. I'm just gonna keep moving at him he'll have to run home to defend and my troops have odds so I'll just move in and pillage his improvements. If he moves towards my city its okay I have more units being built. They'll handle it.

My trireme landed on some fishing net this turn. Poor Dazed.

Lost an 87.9% battle. My C2 Chariot and against his C1 chariot at 3.4 health. I'm saddened. I killed the chariot and his skirmisher that were on the forest but moved back to the PH. So I've got 1 Dog, 1 chariot and 1 beat up spear left in the center. All his troops have retreated. My settler is headed for my spot on the FP mirror. I need a missionary though... monastery in poverty point? After a few more spears I think.

In the middle of a session with Dazed. Current turn 66.

I was holding the middle with 3 units a few turns ago against 3 skirm and a chariot. A Dog, a wounded spear and a chariot. I was on a hill he was across a river. He attacks:

19% odd lose to dog
30% odd win vs spear
39% odd win vs chariot
100% odds win vs dog

Very sad.

I killed that chariot that was last to win with a spear. He promoted the 2 skirms. I had a chariot nearby. I left the spear on the hill. Hit the 2 skirms with the chariot and left it there. Next turn he killed the chariot with the remainign skirm and moved an axe up. I killed the skrim with spear. He killed my spear with and axe. I killed his axe with another chariot.

The field as it stands:

And home:

I alos just teched IW and Writing. I have cleared the gems and will mine next turn. Maths next. Things are going well. I believe Dazed is at 4 cities like me.

Demos:

I am leading in all but GNP which is the one I can catch up in fastest. I'll settle the center in 2 turns and start cottaging. Then settle that clams and work the sea for 3C tiles.

The picture pretty much says it all. I just took out 3 of his units with 1 casualty and 1 deletion. I have iron hooked up next turn and can 2t sword builds. Dazed currently has 3 skirms coming towards me. Poverty point will start a sword next turn instead of finsihing the dog. The GG will move closer then the turn after will settle in poverty point. I will whip the Sword, overflow into a 1T sword, then overflow into finishing the dog then 1T another spear/dog/chariot/sword. The best is that all these units will be 5XP+agg. Chariots can be sentry. Swords could be C3, or C1,cover,shock, or C1, CR2. Will be very powerful.

Also Colossus in 2. I settled Messa in order to take advantage of the clam+colossus instead of waiting around for the opportunity to plant my FP mirror site.

From this position I should win. Dazed has a higher GNP currently, but I have MFG, Crop, land, pop, and military superiority.

bang

The tech speed is so slow that ancient units will be in play for a long time yet. And the 6 power swords with all the promos will allow me to walk through Dazed's lands and pillage all his improvments. Maybe even raze some cities. I don't know if he's tech IW or not. Maybe he went HBR or towards cats. after the 2 swords I may go spear before the dog. It'll depend on what I see walking along his coast via my trireme. lol and by the by, these swords could get the mounted promo so HAs would not be a problem there either.
