I’ve been working on solo mp rouge im since new year’s weekend. I slowly refined tactics and got better, then hit the wall around dlvl 11-13. No matter what I did, the damn storm rider types did me in.

9 consecutive losses in dlvl’s 11-13. Always the same, fell behind the damage curve and just ran out of power with a zillion resources in town. This weekend I decided to give it one more try. 3 days and about 30 hours of gaming time later, diablo is down 8-}. Drops were the difference…

I’m sick to death of diablo and not in the mood for a full rundown, but here is the essence.

I went +2 magic, all rest dex. No monsters killed with spells. No offensive spells used at all. Never went above ring mail/long bow (had a + strength ring). Only started adding strength on clvl 15 after vex popped a stormy 8-} (I’d like to be able to use it in this lifetime.). All bow except for a couple of levels in deep cats where s/s was the way to go.

Drops were weird. No useful sticks at all. No books of fw, cl, fireball, sc, etc. Slvl 2 firebolt and slvl 2 lightning were my top offensive spells, so I kept them put away.

The hardware, otoh, was another story. CR, TC, SS, 2 bows of swiftness, one merciless burning, and a ton of + to hit or + dex items.

I hit every single goat shrine and cauldron—no bad ones, and one enchanted that picked up the TC dur to 11…

A BF on dlvl 1 that I never used, and a PS on (cough, cough) dlvl 15 that I used a lot and made the last level and a half a bit of an anti-climax…

Hardest levels were 9 (blown off level at stairs by storms, had to come back down town stairs) and 12 (snakes and storms at stairs, had to run to town, go down to 13, and work back up to 12). The easiest level was 15, magistrates and soul burners, made to order for a bow rogue. The most tedious was 16, could take 2 fireballs and that was it, played cat and mouse with advs forever…

Ended with 9 small yellows and 5 small blues, the aforementioned goodies, and one ammy and two full plate mails as yet un-id’d.

Ending stats in bow-babe format:

Strgth: 40/49
Magic: 15/24
Dex: 149/220
Vit: 21/30

Life: 107
Mana: 83

AC: 64
ToHit: 160%
Damage: 35-38

Resists:
Magic 70%
Fire 21%
Lightning 21%

They were really cool until I started pushing strength at the end with visions of shield-bashing leo to death in nm continuation…
