Hmmm could you try to steal the Bone Palace yourself even without the Marble? No wait i'm forgetting how hammer poor your land is. It really does seem silly that the elves get so many more forests on a production poor map just because they are elves.
War does seem your best option.
Not to mention the most fun.

Ok...
Updates, right?
I've spent the last turns building for war. I have 20 Priest of Leaves, of which 17 will be inside Ilios borders next turn. They are all promoted to mobility (from the spiritual trait) and most of them can get combat 2 (from passive + civic XP). I'm also producing Priest of Leaves non-stop, so I can have reinforcements when needed.
I proposed an open border agreement with Ilios. He refused my request 2 times earlier. Then he offered me open borders like 3 turns ago, which I rejected and proposed a World Map trade instead. He accepted the World Map trade. Now, my thoughts are as following: he has a hawk that can spot my stack from his land. I want him to accept the open borders and base the hawk in my cities near DaveV, so he doesn't see my stack this turn (and I want him to think i'll attack DaveV). Next turn I declare and cancel the deal.
Ilios is warring with Tholal and he recently captured a city. That's great news. It means his troops are away.
His city of Mavromanti, the one closest to me, is one of his best cities and one of the few that can produce Priests of Leaves. It's also the only city managing to make him safe from forking. I want to raze it, since it's also one of the few good cultured cities that Ilios have. I want to keep most of his cities, but this one has to go. I can't defend it, nor afford it being recaptured. Besides, it'll put a severe dent on Ilios morale, I think. He has some defenses in the city, but not enough to hold 17 PoL and 20+ tigers. He also recently moved some units to the Tholal front (my hawk/hunter pair revealed it) and I don't think he can bring them back in time. If I take Mavromanti, half of the job will be done, due to the high mobility of my stacks and the size of Ilios empire.
I am 2 turns from Fanaticism and my incredible unique civic (and also my hero, which is nice). I'll revolt to it and Aristocracy when I can, probably zeroing my unit costs and my WW.
After all that, I plan to do a Golden Age. And after that, build the FoL shrine. After that, who knows...?
QUESTION: Does anyone know what are the chance of treants spawning when I step into an ancient forest in Svartalfar lands (which is following FoL)?

Warning: this is from the manual, not code diving or something more reliable.
But...according to the manual, it's not just FoL that's required, it's the Guardian of Nature civic. And the chances are:
Quote:If an Enemy Unit enters an Unoccupied Ancient Forest
Tile in your Territory there is a 5% chance to spawn a
Treant which will last for 3 Turns (15% chance if the
Tile is being Worked by a City with Temple of Leaves)

Well, that's good news, if it's right. I keep telling myself to do some tests, but haven't got around to do it yet.
I really hope I'll make a sucessful war against Ilios. If I manage to do it, I'll fund myself with the FoL shrine, build the summer palace in Ilios land and start spamming units for a conquest victory.

Well, I managed to raze 2 of Ilios cities (a good one and a not that great one), but he counterattacked my stack with far more troops then I expected him to have. He killed 11 of my 17 PoL... The others probably won't survive too. And I made a tactical mistake with the positioning of my reinforcements (that I only realized after I already did it) and it's likely that I'm going to lose ~8 PoL more.
Well, lesson learned: amass a great stack before attacking, unless you are doomed. I should have waited for a stack of 30 PoL. Or just attacked DaveV instead. Now I kind of screwed both mine and Ilios' chances of winning...
Sorry...

Let me rephrase that, there's a chance that Ilios just crushes me after this... Unlikely, though... I messed up big time, but I'm not so incapable (I think)...

Ouch this is one quick turn around. Nothing you can do?

Well, I lost my main stack, but he couldn't kill my auxiliary stack. Now I already reinforced, built my hero, got a good amount of Demagogs.
I also fired a GA and my GNP is really scary. I 1-turned some economic techs (sailing, HR, Writing, Trade, Currency) and I'm going for Iron Working for cheap demagogs and Iron.
Ilios offered peace last turn (I can't do it myself, no diplomacy with enemies while in conquest), but I couldn't accept, because I need to stay I conquest. I can't declare on Hyborem due to giving up to one of his demands in past turns... Anyway, I tried to sinalize the best as I can in a AI diplo game that I'll accept the peace later. The chance of him figuring it out is almost null .
Ilios got the Grand Menagerie. That's a lot of happiness. Maybe setting him back was a reasonable thing to do after all. The thing is, I could have conquered all of DaveV's land with the same stack... Well, not exactly, since his world spell could own me (no summons).
Anyway, I think I'll wait for Iron Working while building a lot of troops. Than I'll upgrade them to Iron and attack DaveV. I hope Ilios will offer me peace again soon.

Wait so Dave summoned Hyborem? I had to go back and check whether he was mentioned before now and I'm pretty sure he wasn't.
Sounds like the political climate has gone topsy turvey. You got any exit strategies apart from "survive"?
