Well Catwalk, as slowcheetah mentioned as well this is instead of open diplo. how it would work is we can chat with each player individually (and there's even a category to send to all if you wish to make use of it), and it all remains between those players in game. It does allow for some closed diplo (i.e. not everyone seeing all of the conversation), so it's somewhat different than what we decided on, and any of the diplo that we wanbted other people to see we would have to take screenshots of and post that to the thread. I just thought it would be an interesting option to consider, but since we've already kinda settled with open diplo there's no reason to overhaul that if no one else is keen on that

I think that's the same as standard diplo. In standard diplo you're free to use whatever medium you like, and you can talk to anyone you like as covertly as you like. My hope with open diplo was to cut down significantly on diplo without eliminating it, standard diplo would not accomplish that.

The pbem13 system did just that, since all messages had to travel with (in) the save. Negotiating anything could take many turns.

That would be different, yes. Wasn't it a hassle though? I suppose it might accomplish the objective of lowering time spent on diplo.

I have a technical question: where are games set up? (I thought it's here, in PBEM subforum, but now PBEM33 appeared out of the blue with 1000+ posts already!).
As you may see, I'm quite a newbie here (though I lurk for a long time now).
