I think with peace for 30 turns due to the friendship with rho I might just push up the Settler to the Jade-Iron-Stone spot visible to the north of the marked out Lake spot. 30 turns is enough time to wall up and settle the Lake city behind it to shorten our supply lines. I'll also have quite a few Ngao by then so maybe the situation looks good enough to DoW rho instead in 30 turns, in which case it's a good jumping point

The DoF is already working towards that goal, we won't unlock alliances until a while. I am of course about to drop two cities towards rho* so I hope he doesn't take that the wrong way  

* not exactly towards him the planned new Iron-Jade-Quarry city and the lake as a backfill directly after are as much in "our" territory as "his".  He also has a lot of backlands so he doesn't really have a complaint. I promise I won't push my luck by going further North than that



@RFS-81 Archduke has been our "Monty" since he did nothing but WAR way back in in pbem 2 right? Though I'd argue Sullla is up there too now, as both his games so far have been Legion-rushes, so much for him being a builder .

On a completely unrelated note, I just hit Ascension 0 in Slay the Spire, it only took me 32 hours of playtime...

Bumped into Suboptimals borders this turn, luckely he looks to be far away, though I don't know how far his borders extend to the South:




Also visible, barb uprising in the far south and my settler a few turns from settling my last bordercity towards rho. I am building a Builder in Frikandel, he is going to use a jungle-chop with Agoge to kick-start us into getting a few Ngao out.

Future planning is settling that planned city to the south and perhaps something between Brussels and Valletta near where the Archer is now and getting out a lot of troops to hopefully stand against suboptimal, conquer CS's and help out rho/prevent him from getting any ideas.

One big problem I can see in the very long-term is that suboptimal has a lot of land to settle into between him and us/rho and probably backlines as well. He may not have to use any further agggresiion to steamroll himself into being untouchable. The most optimistic scenario is that he already has half the map uncontested, but depending on how the far west looks it could be more.

Rho built the Hanging Gardens because that is an excellent idea when one of your neighbours is taking your land (us) another is an existential threat to everyone in the game (subop) and you are only on three cities...
